You are wrong there matey 
Ive had mine remapped to make sure the torque level is at peak where I want it....rev limit is also raised so when i change gear the revs fall back into the torque sweet spot.
No cams/forged pistons etc here....forged pistons are needed at circa 9k revs so I understand on the 2.2 lump

I could buy a 16v lump or alternatively reinforce the bottom end and go for a higher lift cam and raise the limit on the management...
