anything under 15 is pretty damn fast, breaking into 13's in a saxo is bloody amazing!!!

When Astra VXR's are struggling to get better than 14.9, a saxo getting a 14.42 is v.impressive.
The car isn't struggling, the driver is.
Weird? - when I was already a couple of car lengths on you, I was accelerating through 3rd and the astra was not gaining as I neared the line... you'd of thought the astra's high peak bhp would of been gaining by that point.
You should of let me drive it.
You sure you don't have a VXR restrictor pedal?
Work out the Bhp per tonne of each car, Astra 237bhp 1400kg Pug 160 bhp 900kg

Exactly, a standard vts/gti runs around 15.3 - 15.5 with a decent enough driver.

Ive witnessed a vts with a cat-back do a 15.4 so it is possible, plus if a corsa sport 1.6 can get 16.5 a vts will be alot quicker

To be honest i've driven 2 Saxo VTS up the strip (both modded) and they were running Mid 16's.... However a mate with mild mods has managed a 15.9 so it is possibly. But can't see a 15.5 in bog standard trim.
Mate fantastic time you ran there Although to knock 1/2 sec off that time is going to take some doing. A mate of mines 1.6 16v Nova (160bhp) was running mid 14's for ages.... that was stripped out on TB's. He's now down to 13.8 but the car is now down to 650kgs!!! Everything you can imagine has been removed and fibreglass panels and poly carb windows etc added.
Good luck to though! Love the look of your car
Neil

sounds the nuts pal, wouldnt mind tb's on my GTI but must admit i'd prefer a SC or turbo first , decat and 4-2-1 is good enough for now, set of cams next probably and a decent induction kit instead of the open cone filter thats on there now

My car STANDARD did a 16.1 1/4 mile
With 'just' Exhaust + Filter it did a 15.3!
Exhaust + Filter does a lot on these cars.
With cams etc best I've managed so far is 14.8.
