i will try and answer your questions.
I think the bit circled in red is an idle control valve. So presumably the adjustable bit is to do with alering the idle?

The black bits look like they could be some sort of vacuum operated choke or something?

excuse my lack of knowledge about bike tb's, I have only had a play with 2 sets, both on hyabusa engined kit cars for my mates mororsport company.

Dont think its an idle control valve... it doesnt have any electrical connector???

Also where would i connect the two hoses too it it was a ICV?

When you blow into the two black hoses on the bottom it makes the black slider things retract.....

any idea why?

this is why I dont fit bike bodies for people

I would strip off as much as possible on those tb's and just use a jenvey throttle linkage and tps

The linkage on this is perfect... dont need to waste money on a jenvey linkage

thats some kinda variable inlet tract thing,

cant remember exactly, but i think its vaccuum operated, but thats where my knowlege stops


i would just strip it and use a linkage though, will be far easier

ill be keeping glued to this one as im planning this myself,

had a post about megasquirt and no1 replied,

if you dont mind me asking how much is the megasquirt costing? i looked at omex stuff but its way to expensive

im getting the V3 with mods to run the GM coilpack and crank sensor as well as launch control and flat shift for £300

omex started at £400 odd for standard shit

Right ive managed to strip them down and remove the black sliders.

Think it would be ok to fill the holes with chemical metal or is the risk of the engine sucking it in too much?

unless you have used both omex and megasquirt then its impossible to compare the 2.

I would have a proper omex ecu over a megasquirt ecu anyday, even if they are £200 more.

You can live map Omex too.

I think you'd be better using Omex as the software will be easier to use than the home made stuff with MS.

omex has all things + more than megasquirt has. its not a lot more cash, far better quality, more reliable, exellent customer service and very very easy to use.

megasquirt uses a similar mapping program to Gems. Gems is a very similar system to Omex Map 3000 software but the difference is that omex is a properly developed software with simple 3d mapping, not just a copy of a copy that has lost the basics along the way.

a lot of people use megasquirt and find it ok, its not that difficult after all but to ge that lot running properly you are going to need it set up and mapped by someone that knows what they are doing on a RR.

Ordered my Bogg Brothers manifold today.



£188.

The guy was sound on the phone... told me everthing i needed to know. Im sending him my R6 throttle bodies and he's making the manifold to suit them as they are now so i can use the standard linkage

make sure you get a 30 degree manifold rather than a parralell one. its an extra 10bhp and 5lb/ft on an otherwise standard engine!

the port into the head on the 16xe engines are at a 30 degree incline. if you follow that with the manifold theres a much easier route for the air, so higher air speed, less restriction.....
