It would be better if it was written off. I only say that because once a car has had a bump its rare for it to be put back to the same condition again! Panel gaps etc. wont be as good as they were pre-crash Also flame red is not the best colour to be trying to blend in!

I did scratch the corner of my front bumper parking, would have need to be repaired & sprayed as it scratched down to the black plastic. That will probably get sorted now
It is blooming strange though how my bumper is fine, but the top isn't. The bumper will probably pop back out. Bloody KA's. If it was a Corsa, I probably would have only done plastic damage and bonnet.

I don't know, but I always have my foot on my brake until someone else is behind me.
There was a pretty hefty crash on Traffic Cops (BBC1) once, where a lorry had smashed into the back of a stationary car on the motorway. Forensics took out the light bulbs and found shards of glass in the filament. This indicated her bulb filament was hot. This went against the lorry driver, as she should have seen the car was stationary. Similar situation to me, for that split 2nd, I couldn't tell whether she was moving or not.

Although what you say is valid, I hope not, because I need a car for Uni. Being 19 I can't hire one, so need to get one sorted. If it is repaired, I have the courtesy car for the duration of the repair. 100mile limit per day though

last time i was at the salvage in kent there where loads of corsa's with less damage ! even though some of them where only cat d it costs more to repair then they are worth
corsa club 99 on a t plate 64k £ 1400
cat d repair will cost a company £ 1000+ and to repair with gm parts etc
= easier to pay out
might be lucky

So if they write it off will you not get a courtesy car until you get sorted with a new car?
Thats what happened when my stepdads car got written off. Had a courtesy car for about 2 months till he found a new car....

I'll hopefully be lucky.
Just done an insurance quote on Zurich. Even though I'm paying £1k at the moment, as I got it through a high street broker I know.
Zurich now (2 year licence which I will have come Sept) - £1639
Zurich with accident declared - £1918
Increase of just under £300, not bad imo.
Anyway, who knows. Will up date when I know more

same here some one crashed in to the back of me yesterday - I was there for ages waiting to go no one was behind me then crash some one rear ended me - but was it my fault for not having my brake lights on? or his for not looking properly - it quite a difficult situation - fortunatly my car was allright and he cracked his number plate.
Hope this makes sense also sorry about your car deano87
edit: I'm not blaming anyone by the way

unlucky mate, its easily done though. i remember in the summer at the top of our road someone was waiting to turn in but had the handbrake on instead of the foot brake and the glare from the sun made it hard to see the indicators and a motorbike went straight into the back of the car. from what i heard he was doing the speed limit aswell

As Matty (i think) said it would be better if it were written off just due to the alignment etc.
It will come down to the true extent of damage and price of parts/ labour from the garage its at.
You should be able to leep the hire car till your claim is completed or till your car is fixed

Brake lights will make no difference for one if the car was stationary and two even if the car was moving your not supposed to be fixated on brake lights coming on or not. Your supposed to judge if the car is slowing or not and keep the relevant distance. Not having a pop as we all do it but I think the insurance will go 100% against you
