1 tooth

EDIT: Just realised your using verniers.. Sure its the equivalent of 3/4 of a tooth, search on vxon, sure there will be threads on there.

TBH I don't know how many hours I've spent on it. I just do bits and peices when I get the parts.

This is my first engine I've rebuilt. I do have a good knowledge and a fitter by trade so finding it all pretty easy going.

Not a good day today, I was planning on getting the powersteering pump on, altenator and pullies all on along with my cambelt rollers.

But I opened up the cambelt kit to find out they have sent me the wrong one. So I checked my waterpump, that is also the wrong one. Well that just pissed me off so I've fucked it off for the day

It's just not going well for me at all.

I decided to have another go at the engine today, after getting so pissed off with it last time and the same just happened again. I was putting the powersteering on, and snapped one of the bolts in the block holding the mount on. Tried chiselling it, no louck. Drilled a hole in a hammered an allen key in, snapped the allen key in the stud. So just dropped the powersteering now, it for wimps anyways!

So for all you LET conversions, I have a full powersteering setup for sale in classifields, also got a Bailey's fluid resevoir.

Little update today. Weather was ace so decided to get the engine out and do what I could. I still haven't managed to get the bolt out of the block from the powersteering, so i'm just going to leave it in there for now

I also thought I would give timing the engine a go, somehting i have always been scared to do, but seems to have turned out alright.

First I had to put the bottom crank pulley on, they have a stupidly high torque on them, and I couldn't find my scaff bar fear not, I have something better . . . .

one of the legs from my engine lift. Now that should definitely be tight enough

Then fit my verniers and cambelt kit

All was needed was a bit of common sense, was bit awkward doing it by myself but I got there in the end. Gave it a few turns and everything is still timed up OK. I then knocked it back half a tooth on the inlet cam for my XE inlet cam.

Some more updates coming soon . . . . . . hopefully.

That is all

Certainly did, but had to take it back off. It was just one I had lying around, i'm waiting for my proper powdercoated one off migweb.

Got it from TMS. I got the big bastard one, cost me just over 50notes I think. But they did have a smaller one for about 30. Comes as a flat pack and build it yourself.

It has got to be by far the most useful thing I have bought for the engine

Well muppetsport lives round my way so I've heard all about it. But I still asked the guy to make sure he doesn't powdercoat the underneath.

I just had a look on the net for TMS, and they are only based in the North unfortunately mate. Learn something new everyday. But here's there website anyways . . . . . . http://www.tmsmotorspares.co.uk/

I had been putting it off for ages, but the time had come to clean my gearbox. I thought it would be one of those things which seem OK once you get going, definitely not!

But after 2 days of cleaning I managed to get a lick of paint on.

Cleaning the gearbox

Good old Getrag

Then painted most of it up, i'll be putting the second coat on tomorrow.

Well I managed to get the rest of the gearbox cleaned up the other day then put another coat of hammerite on it, and put all the sensors back in.

Now i just need to put the finishing touches to the engine. I started by de-studding the inlet and exhaust flanges and replaced them with allen bolts. It makes it a lot easier to work on and gives me more room for when I get my ram-style manifold and custom inlet.

So I fitted my new coolant hoses to the turbo and bolted the turbo with new gasket and bolts. I also put my new underdrive pulley on and my new polished 82c thermostat

I also got some more polished parts done. Should go well with the powdercoated rocker and other bits I should be receiving next week

Look at what other goodies I got earlier this week as well

That's it for now. I might have a crarck at it later on.
