well with my 2000 budget i could buy/convert to xe, but to do a LET i would need to sell the scoob and then have the corsa off road whilst been converted but i need a car for work... how often do LET corsa's come up for sale? rarely i bet..

you wont really get a good let corsa that doesnt need any work for 2000, allthough you wil easily pickup ana 2.0xe corsa for that

I didn't expect to pick up a LET for 2k, They fetch around 5k don't they? the donor for a LET would be 1500 to 2k,wouldn't it?

I have no idea sorry, better asking someone else. I do know that they are a lot more expensive than a XE though.
A good option would be to buy a Calibra Turbo. Then you would have all the parts needed for the transplant. You could also sell the remaining parts and make some cash.
I was also reading that the only difference between an XE and LET is the cams and pistons. So you could rebuild the bottom end and change the cams and pistons.
But someone else would need to confirm this

There is two manuals. Don't know how good any of them would be. Worth a read at £1.75 though I guess.

thanks for all the replies, most likely gonna buy a ready converted xe corsa but i'm also gonna look further in to the possibility of a LET powered car. anyone got a guide figure for a LET powered corsa? donor-1500-2000, how much and where do you get the install kits from? other parts needed?

i dont really have any reliability issues people on here seem to talk about with my xe and nor do i have any handling issues which apparently makes 2.0 UNBELIEVEBLY CRAP APPARENTLY.
not being biased to my 2.0 but i love it go for it you'll love the torque.
just had a good conversion dude!

just had a look on LMF at the LET conversion kits, seem reasonably priced. would it be possible to do a LET for about £3000? 1500 donor,1000 for conversion kit and intercooler,+ cost of corsa...
Anybody on here done a LET or know someone who has?

Hi Sean
I've had my XE for a little while now and it's great fun
http://www.corsasport.co.uk/board/viewthread.php?tid=337868 - Progress thread from February when I started the conversion.
On the road it's really good too, suprises/beats most things, Top Speed will get up to 130-140mph too

i sold mine 2-3 weeks ago for 2500, believe me its cheaper to buy one already done as already said anyone who says they dont handle well has obviously never driven one at all or has had experience of one with crappy suspension setup. as a comparison for speed i had mine stuck to the back end of a new ctr in different situations ( bit of twisty then motorway ) he could not shake me at all. good fun, cheap enough to run and insure. have little niggles but mine was always reliable.

Speak to Sly_Sri on this website!
I think he's selling his 2.0 16v Corsa and it's the quickest I know of.
He did a 14.4 1/4 mile, completely standard!
Most 2.0 16v Corsa's I've seen go down the strip do mid to low 15's! IF they've been modded a bit you may see high 14's...
But Sly_Sri's did a 14.4
