Without going into to much detail ,

there were 3 evo 6's made to 1 evo 5, that means there are 3 x times more evo 6's on the road then evo 5's thats why the 5's are more sought after and usually left pretty standard, Evo 5 and 6 are identical apart from front bumper and spoiler. and very little on engines as same block used on 4 / 5 / 6.

A total of 9000 Evolution VI's were built.

That's the easy answer to make it sound like you'r a better driver if you get a 5 tho isn't it?

Let me think...old evo or new evo.... hard one

Lol tbh buddy, i was looking at the 8 well the fq320 mr to be precise but it lacked the passion and the whole experiance of the earlyer evo's ie 5 / 6.

As Autocar put it: "It is less than a year since the Lancer Evolution V scalped Subaru's hottest Impreza and became the most astonishing saloon car we had ever driven. But the constant need to homologate new cars for rallying means that Mitsubishi has had to go back to its corporate shed and attempt the unthinkable; make the Evo V better".

That's great, but i'd still rather have the £20k+ car than the sub £10k one.

Good choice matey!

I thought the 4's were a fair bit lighter than the newer cars but it seems there isnt nothing in it - Most evos seem to fall between 1350 and 1450kgs.

evo 4 = 1330kg for gsr
evo 5 = 1360kg for the GSR,
evo 6 = 1410kg for gsr but has 10lb more torque. hope that helps, evo 1 / 2/ 3 all lighter then the 5 /6/7 but are down on power around 20 -50bhp

Evo 8 weight -

Evolution VIII achieves further advances in weight reduction over the VII, particularly in the front end, upper body and the unsprung weight - areas that contribute most to handling stability. For similar equipment levels and fuel load, the new GSR comes in at virtually the same weight as its predecessor despite the 10kg increase ensuing from the introduction of the 6-speed transmission. Serving as the base model for competition use, the 5-speed gearbox RS model also features further reductions in weight as the result of rationalizing the equipment and sound insulation specifications. For similar equipment levels and fuel load, the new RS weighs in 20kg lighter than its predecessor. All Evolution VIII models come standard with a vehicle immobiliser system that requires the use of a pre-coded key to start the engine.

Newer aged evo's have much larger turbo and camshafts let alone internals etc but with all this comes a greater weight so power to tonne there is not much from the evo 4 to the evo 8, the evo 9's are in a league of there own 340bhp with same weight as evo 8's. but more to point with an evo it does not matter if its a 5k evo 2 or a 25k evo 8 its all don to personal preff, with the earlyer evo's being a real drivers car too an all ouit street racer evo 9's
