to be honest i would just rather pay more car tax than have this 'big brother' bollocks.
i enjoy driving my car, it isnt just a piece of transport- its enjoyment for me and i want to drive it when i want- so i suppose even double the car tax a year i could justify outlaying in respect of how much of a good time i have whilst driving

tis slightly different with the daytime insurance thing (assuming you mean the 'more than' one), 'cus your covered for out of hours driving, but they charge you extra for it. but only when your driving.
And to be honest it looks like there trying to price people out of driving, with all these congestion charges, pay as you go schemes, taxes and what not. I can just see that one day no one will be able to work more than 4 miles from where they live 'cus of the extortionate cost of driving.

with government boxes in your car that send you a text message saying your braking the speedlimit, £30 fine and 3 points as and when it happens, followed by another text saying using your phone when driving £30 fine and 3 points followed by a text saying your banned and the car cuts out?

It will be super wank.
I was thinking that they won't be able to enforce it on cars of a certain age, and it can only be fitted to new cars. . .what about MOT time?!

Surely they cannot enforce this? Maybe if they started fitting on brand new cars like they did airbags & cats etc but I cant see them making people take there car to get a black box bolted into it, hell if they do they'll be getting told to fuck right off, i'll just keep my 16yr old golf & stick the latest engine in it
I think they want us to pay £200 for them to fit them as well. Yeah right.

my mates got this but he chose to have it. He pays a base rate of £600 a year (an a corsa 1.2) and gets 100miles a month free and then its 3p a mile afta that. Can work out cheaper if you dont drive loads.

GPS systems are not accurate enough to stand up in court for speeding offences.
It's been shown a few times how easy they are to fool.

if they DO enforce this, i will simply sell my car, drive around uninsured in an old car until i get caught, go to court and get a few hundred quid fine, then go and do it again and again, cost wise il prolly save money

im not pissed off about the idea, ok it is a pretty wanky idea, but what pisses me off most is how many people were against this, yet all we got was, we are doing it anyway.
the govt need to realise we control them, not vice versa

depends what car its on i guess and what age. if you average 10,000 a year say, its 864 for insurance. if that was on a evo at 18, i swear id take it. on a 1.2 corsa........erm no.
