The amount of times in the first half where Beckham was open on the right, and England never passed the ball to him, it was shocking.

Beckham is a class above most English players, Joe 'lets do 5 step overs cause we're playing Brazil' Cole doesn't have a look in.

Sometimes i think i'm watching a different game from most people, the people i was watching the game with thought he was average, i thought he was the best player on the park

Nah Beckham, he was bursting with energy and uses the ball intelligently as per usual.

Why oh why did Steve-o-Mac drop him.

Wonder what will happen when Becks goes to US. Will he still get a look in?

Didn't really care what happened to be honest. Beckham was amazing though and showed why he needs to be in the team.

Also, Joe Cole can GTF, hes rubbish. All he does is step overs (bit hypocritical when Ronaldo does it I suppose!) but come on, he tried it far too many times and was losing the ball.

Agreed

Beckham played well but you'd expect that as he had a point to prove

no-one else had a point to prove, why would Lampard be bothered, he knows hel play in midweek, and also in the future

Shorey looked OK but not international standard, yet

Lampard was poor, as was Smith and Owen

I think tonight has confirmed a few things:

Smith is not good enough to play for England
Carragher is not a right back, and playing him there makes him look poor
Ledley King isnt international class either (Id have rio, terry, woodgate and carragher all in ahead of him)
The sooner we see a midfield of Becks, Gerrard, Hargreaves, J.Cole and a front line of Rooney and Owen, the better, and that is when we will see England as well as they can

Thats harsh, he was Englands best player at the last World Cup, and has been constantly injured at Chelsea for 12 months. Yes he was poor last night but give the guy a break, on his day, he is awesome and can open up any defence and come up with bits of magic

I was at the game and it was RUBBISH. England were poor!

As said Beckham was the best player, just behind him was Nicky Shorey. He had a very good game!! Never gave the ball away, looked to get round Joe Cole at every oppotunity.

Alan Smith was shocking, so was Carragher first 30mins. Fat Frank got booed and rightly so. Gerrard got held back again but showed the grit and determination every fan wants to see.....nailing everyone at every opportunity

Overall, same old England.

Things will never change as far as England are concerned....we have some of the greatest players in the world but together they simply are not a very good side, and that has been the case for as long as I can remember!

I'm 22 and I seriously doubt I will ever see them lift a World Cup, slight chance of lifting Euro one day.

Personally I think if the FA has any sense at all they need to get rid of McLaren as soon as possible, he is going to get England nowhere. On the bright side if we don't pick up 3 points midweek I don't think the FA will have any choice!

Could say the same with Robinho, Kaka, Ronaldinho and co. at the moment, good individuals but crap as a side.
Main reason why Brazilian national side is rubbish is most players play in Europe and adapted to the Euro style of football, meaning most sides know how to play them, because they play the same style themselves.

Last night was far from a good game for us. I think both teams werent on form. The play seemed really scrappy and we made a lot of mistakes in the second half. There is still along way to go in my opinion.

Fair play to Becks though, a welcome return.

I was supprised how poor Alan smith was in the air - or maybe it was the brazillian that was just way too good for him. Every ball up to him in thw air he lost.

I thought it was an OK performance. Not the best but at least we were playing IMO still a half decent team with some of the best players in the world, maybe not at thier best but they will could walk round lesser teams.

The comentators mentioned how slow the game was, when we upped the tempo we started to look like were were going somewhere but too often did people pick it up in midfield and the first thing they did was turn back into thier defence rather than driving forward
