are you looking at nuremburg?

From Dunkerque (the place the ferry drops you) in france, it is only 241 miles to 'nurburg' which is where the nurburgring is!

Wicked. Thought it was much further. Thats good news for someone who is notorious for owning cars that break.

yeh it's awesome, I plan to go more often!

only a few hour drive, with a break in the middle once off the ferry...

For me it was literally,

wake up, drive 100 miles (in about an hour) down to dover, get on ferry - 1 hr 45 crossing... 241 miles to the ring in about 3-4 hours depending on traffic / stops. Dump stuff at hotel and Get some laps in!

if the car is jumping over the road, surely the suspension is too hard, causing it to jump over bumps, so stiffening the suspension will make it worse???

looks good though, might have to good sometime!

Was an awesome trip eh Paul

Yeah can't wait only 4 weeks till I'm back again, hopefully I'll have the 306 prep'd for it and won't have to take the rather boringly slow 205 out again

Might try and make it out late september if the 205 gets it's new engine, I'll take you out again then??

Next year I'm planning to go everymonth from april onwards

James... I'm thinking next easter!

Though I may be up for a september trip this year too...

Just trying to figure out what I can do car wise and financially allowable.

Problem is, I almost want a car that I can sell at the end lol. but most track cars that's not gonna happen, so I think hmm, ok I build a cheap track car that I'll just keep for ages.

Most of my laps I was worried about my clutch going... would be awesome to do it without that worry and with a few tweaks to my car

warren, the car isn't solidly bumping... it's rolling about, most likely due to soft rear... and progressive front springs.

I'm considering, selling my bilstein sprintline shocks and springs (should get £250 easy for the set), and then getting some coil overs and stiffer rear shocks.

Then a stiffer rear ARB and some parada spec 2's on my wheels and it could be fun

My ultimate 106 gti would be...

Kent Pt 52's, Direct to head Throttle Bodies, Omex ECU mapped. High Comp pistons, con rods and stiffened / balanced crank. (With my setup should see about 175-185 bhp @ fly).

Then Quaife ATB LSD (Diff)
Coilovers at the front
Stiffer rear shocks
Stiffer rear ARB
Stiffer rear Torsion bar
Uprated bushes all round.

Car completely stripped out, even door cards etc... 2 Bucket Seats, and a decent welded in cage!

Then some Comp Mo 5 spoke 15" wheels with decent rubber.

oh yes... I would fucking love to have that car

Easy sub 9 ring lap and easy domination of most track days

Its not like any track in this country though.

Its fine to go as a track virgin, just make sure you go out with someone who isnt, that way you can get them to talk you through a first lap and gain loads of great advice!

All the people there love their cars and most of them are more than willing to take you out for a lap if you ask nicely and offer to contribute towards the cost of the lap, even though they will refuse as most have the year passes so dont pay for laps

Make sure when you/anyone who goes there gets ADAC recovery cover (German AA) its a bitch to sort out, but, you dont get charged for recovery from the 'Ring', which as you've heard isn't cheap.

Paul, Shenpar sell the thicker torsion and ARBs, if you get a price on them let me know cos il be getting a disc rear beam soon and looking to change them possibly if funds allow. Then a Peugeot sport front tarmac damper and 300lb+ springs and thinner front ARB. Sounds pricey though...
