Id take my focus rather then the corsa round there. Although there is a temptation to buy a couple of hundred quid shitter that you dont care about to take round - i think that would be more fun as youd worry less

both of these are 1.4 8v's!

they're owned by a car garage in ardenau and I spoke to the bloke about the white one and he was like 'just for advertising, only 1.4!'

I know you said it in jest - but to be fair...

With a fucked gear box and no anti roll bar and only being my 4th lap I did a 9 min 31 lap! (only 15 secs slower than your mate in his scooby!).

I know for a fact if I returned with my car fixed I could do sub 9 mins...

Either way, I don't think someone in a fabia skoda could jest about 106 gti's being 'slow' (based on sarcastic 'fastest things there were' comment).

I love the place!

Looks like you had perfect weather and a good trip! Where was the cook your own steak place? in Adenau? Looks like Pinocioes (spelling)

There's two places I know of that you can cook your own steak. The Pistonhause (spelling not sure?) which is owned by Sabine (Top Gear fame)
And Farozii. something or other in Adenau. One of the tose pics was taken in Pinocioes but not the one of the steaks

Its a WRX STI Type UK with PPP.... Quite a mouthful... lol, which basically means it came with 306bhp from the factory, lowered suspension and a host of other mods.

I bloke that drives the same route to work in derby as me has one. Virtually the same straight through, 2003 reg. When it breaks from 30limit to national, the speed and noise is incrediable! On of the loudest cars i have ever heard tho

Exceptional cars tho!

How did the fabia hang out? Bet it was the best one of the lot on the drive down Doing more than twice the MPG of the impreza!

I didn't take the Fabia out on track, I just passengered with my mates and taught them some of the lines and the circuit in general.

Yes I got by far the best MPG out of everyone that went

Haha, Chill Winston! It was a jest at the whole Corsasport V 106GTi thing... lol, they could of been lapping in 8 or 18mins for all I know. I've got nothing against them.

Lap times round the Ring have very little to do with the car anyway, its down to the driver. To put it into perspective we did 7 laps in the Scooby the first of which was 10:55.... Then each lap the driver was knocking 20 secs or so off his lap times (I was teaching him the track and he was feeling his way with the car). The main reason for timing was to see if he was improving or not.

Last year my Corsa went round with a standard XE, Billy suspension and 4 pot brakes. On its 3rd ever lap (not with me driving, the Leon driver was) he managed a 9:40... Bareing in mind he didn't know the circuit at all this was very good but he was taking risks.

The week just gone I also got to go out in an old standard MK2 Golf GTI which just had lowered suspension and G60 front brakes. But because the driver knew the circuit well we posted a 9:20 straight away!

I want to go back there now im talking about it

Do you realise how quick the VRS's are??? I know its abit tailerd, but in everyday driving, down the single A roads, your stuck being a lorry and a few cars, the fabia can just pull out and do them all alot quicker than a 106. Yer you can have one round a track but how often do you drive round the track on the way to the office??

I do a lot of track days?

Weren't we talking about the nurburgring which is essentially a track?

In all serious though as richc was saying... Nurburgring is all about driver in my opinion.

I use this equation...

To go quick round nurburgring requires

5% Knowing the lefts from the rights (where your going)
25% A quick capable car (obviously a porsche should beat a fiat panda! lol).
25% having a good capable driver (someone who knows how to drive fast on track)
45% HAVING THE BIGGEST BALLS IN THE WORLD.

Basically due to the way the ring is, a lot of bends are actually sweeping, and if you have the balls can be taken without braking / lifting off the throttle.

So a guy in a Porsche who brakes before every bend - then has to accelerate down the straight to get back up to speed, then brakes again at the next bend. Will get thrashed by someone in something like a sorted 106 / 205 / Golf, who can just keep flat on the throttle through the bends (carry it and more down the straights) and only brake / lift where it is definately needed.
