Yes, because their is time after that when he can rest...due to it being only a friendly.

No, let me try to spell it out...he needs a week or so off with no footy so the bone can set itself. Due to the fact that next week their is only a friendly game its seems the perfect time to give him that rest.
How is that hard to understand? Its not a major game, its actually a stupidly timed game when players have only just started the new season as it is.

I'd fucking laugh if Fat Frank landed full force on the foot. That'd crush most cars tbh.

I fully understand the situation and the reasoning, i just don't buy it. National teams have less significance now than they've ever had and the reason is folk like Benitez dismiss it's importance, which is a shame.

Its not Rafa who makes these calls, its the medical team and Gerrard himself. If he thought he could get better whilst playing for England then Im sure he would, he has never pulled himself out of any games before when injured as isnt that sort of player.

Now you're being silly, are you trying to tell me the medical team said play against Chelsea with a broken toe but not for England?

No, they'd of said he CAN play against Chelsea (probably using injections for pain relief) but then would need 7+ days off.

Gerrard to make his injury worse at the weekend and miss a month of football vastly denting Liverpools title hopes due to their lack of strength in depth. Maybe

4-1 Chelsea, Drogba x 2, Lampard deflected penalty and a Malouda goal.

I think the point Hammer is getting at is you'd think he would rest it BEFORE playing games, not after... That's just stupid.

Its not when you have probably the biggest game of the season and then nothing but a friendly game that counts for nothing

AND? Come the end of the season if we are 4pts behind Chelsea and they beat us on Sunday then it was a very important game. All the ones against the sides around us are, no matter when they are in the season.
