Would you not consider us to be a club as having potential Cosmo?

I was hoping to catch a big one

I would personally say you should be pushing for Europe at best. Maybe a good cup run if you get some lucky fixtures.

Is that enough to get big players to come to you...not really no.

So if we qualify for Europe in our first season with new owner, chairman, manger after making significant changes to the squad, you're saying that people wont see us as a club with potential, heading in the right direction?

Youve had 'potential' for years and years though.

Hopefully this new owner will push you in the right direction to actually meet some of this potential I dont know.

That's a fair comment on us having potential for years. But years of corruption and mismanagement had left our club in ruins. Now we have a wealthy benefactor, a no nonsense chairman and a manager capable of pushing us forwards I think Newcastle have every right to feel optimistic for the future. It wasn’t to long ago when Liverpool and Newcastle were very similarly matched.

imo newcastle could push for uefa cup place but they are not going to be bothering the big boys. they do have potential but there is abig difference between the potential to do well and the potential to make the top 4. I personally don't believe you have enough top quality players. alot of good players but nobody really outstanding.

The difference was we built it on a solid platform over years and years so we couldnt fall backwards too far....you guys built it quick to get up the top and went tumbling back down soon after.

I Would be happy with top 8 this season to be honest and continue to improve from there. Any European football for us at the end of the season would be a bonus in my opnion. After that I'd like us to see us cement a place as a regular top 6 side and then see where we can go from there.

Hence why I think the new hierarchy within the club can only be a good thing and as long Ashley is in it for the long haul I could see us developing our own solid platform over the coming seasons

Its going to take you years and years and years to break into the top 4 (possibly even 5) unless one of the ones currently there really fuck up in someway and drop down lower....which I dont see happening.

I think Mr Styles dodgy decision yesterday could cost Liverpool a top four place, therfore handing Newcastle a Champions League spot.......

not in a month of sundays, on both counts. liverpool will be third at worst come may. plus newcastle would have to get above spurs everton and arsenal for champions league. won't happen.
