no its the same size as a corsa, a hatchback and its directly in the same class as the corsa, its just it uses displacement rather than turbo for its power.
i think the 197 will be faster

Good going that, so has the Clio been round yet?
Also Steve not to cause an arguement, but did'nt you say a 106 would beat it round a track? Anyone know what a standard 106 does the ring in?

Nothing amazing. There's a loooong up hill, as well as many fast straights, a standard 106 wouldn't hit the top end like a clio 197 or corsa VXR.
To be honest, I don't rate standard 106 gti's - they need minimum exhaust + filter and suspension mods to be half decent.
Probably like most things tho it's down to the driver, so you could have a 106 gti quicker than a corsa VXR round a track, but then put the same driver in the corsa VXR and the corsa VXR driver in the 106 and it'd be the other way around.

Fair enough, just I remember back in the day when Steve said his 106 would cane one round a track.

Thing is, just because that Corsa VXR did a 8 min 47 Full lap of the ring, doesn't mean every Corsa VXR owner can and will be capable of doing that. As I say, 'round a track' it's mostly down to the drivers, the track, etc.
It's possible a Corsa VXR driver won't want to push it too much and bin his expensive car, so could be considerably slower than someone in a cheap 106 gti going round a track.
To be fair, to do a full lap of the ring like the Corsa VXR, the track needs closing and I don't see peugeot wanting to pay for that, and hire a ace driver to prove a point for steve Though I'd have no doubt's a Corsa VXR would lap the ring quicker than a 106 gti with the right driver, as it has far more torque and power, perfect for the up hills / long straights.

Lets discuss the car, driven well. As this one is. By that token Ferraris are slower than Corsas. I don't buy it.

I meant 'could' not will. Seriously Ian I'm not trying to start arguments. Was just saying it's pointless saying 1 car is quicker than another car round a track, as one driver may be pushing / driving better than another. Thus the car is irrelevant.
no, you as a 106 driver cannot accept it basically, thats all it is. go on, say it, as you want to, your car is far far faster in all ways possible than it. get a fuckin grip, its a 106, its a slow slow slow piece of tin shit.

Ian I'm saying the Corsa VXR and the time it did round the ring is fantastic!

Read my posts in this thread, no where did I suggest this, or think this.
106's are 'shit'. End of. There are far better cars than them out there.

agreed Hence if you read my posts, you'd see I've already come to this conclusion. I've already concluded in my posts that a Corsa VXR is quicker than a 106 gti when driven well, and I know I'd definately prefere a Corsa VXR to a 106 gti.
So I honestly don't see your point or why your turning this thread into general rubbish?

OK, you in a 106 I pay for and I'm scrapping afterwards vs me in a Gallardo.
There's enough in the kitty to buy the former, hire the latter and make internet history.

same driver in either car, corsa vxr will still be quicker. or do you not understand that? and think that the lap times for 106's are done by people who cant drive? excuse after excuse

i still stand by my comment that round a normal track that doesnt consist of many elevations and straights the 106gti will win.
the corsa vxr will be faster on a straight road im not denying that but a normal track will consist of tighter corners and far less distance straights, saying that who knows what a standard 106gti will do with a professional driver on the ring

I see a Corsa VXR being quicker in all circumstances, provided the driver takes in to account being in the power band.
