Will phone up the engineer and see how he is doing tomorrow.

ECU arrived today. Pluged it in to the car and the engine fired right up. HORAR.
Spend 2 hours tidying the engine loom and putting everything back together. Waiting on a radiator as the old one sprung a leak on the top elbow.
Will be talking to the engineers tomorrow finding out when and how much.

Had the engine running a bit more today and has settled down. In the video it had been runing for a minute and was a bit top end noisy.
The engine had been standing for half a year. Phew.

Engineer said will definately be next week and will be no more than £50.
Dont want to push him. He has helped me out in the past

Picking up some alloys at the weekend for £50 for a set of 5.

Will be on the road in no time.

Got my new wheels

Will look really different.
Fitted my anti roll bar with blocks so it misses the exhaust and started to put the rest of the car back together

Hubs will be ready for collection tomorrow lunch time.

Oh yes. I had a 1.8 8 valve mk2 golf and boy that was fast. Considering the corsa is lighter and has 8 valves more I think it will be quick and will surprise a lot of people.

I cant wait to drive it out of the garage and down the road.

Am thinking of doing some subtle mods. Dehandeling the rear doors and semi smoothing the boot and a bit of colour on the bumpers and trim

The car engine overhall nearly complete. Dropped the car off the axel stands and onto its wheels for the first time is 5 weeks. Pushed it out just to have a look at the suspension and all seems to be ok.

Got my mate Barrie to give it a rev. (Boy does he get excited)
New air cleaner installed. Not bad for £10 delivered.

Just got the gear linkage to sort out and tidy the loom inside and mount the ECU.

Today has been a good day.

Disaster has struck this build right from the start.

1. Royal mail tryed to stop me
2. A member of this forum tryed to stop me
3.The machinest stopped me.(With the help of me)

Well all was well and good so I thought right up until it came to tightening the front hub nuts.
They would tighten but still had play in the hubs that shoudnt have been there from the start.(shit)
Money down the pan.
It wasnt the guys fault. I mean it all fits together.

Any way plan B try and get a set of second hand hubs with knuckles that would bolt straight on.

I remember a while back that willay had some hubs for sale so dropped him a u2u and he replied and said he still had them.
We arranged to meet and a deal was done.

Well on looking at both sets of hubs My machined hubs had been taken down to much to the point of where the back to the hub was sticking past the bearing. And also the hub face was thicker.

So a word of warning. If you have MK2 Astra hubs like I have get your machinest to take some of the front face of the hub and take 2mm off the wall of the shaft and take the first ridge away.

So car is all built up. Gearbox is filled. Test drive day tomorrow.
Got there in the end. HORAR

Big Big thanks to willay top bloke. And he was local too.

Will post pics tomorrow of the finished article.

Had a test drive today and boy was it quick. The steering was V heavy (something I am going to have to get use to) but the clutch was lovely and light. I have never owned a car where the front end lifts in 3rd.

Had to get the tracking done as one of the wheels was slightly off. The guys at the tyre place were a bit impressed. ( I think) Cheers STS

Only one reall small problem. The alternator was catching the rail only slightly but gave me a bit of a fright. Sounded like a really bad grinding brake. Will get it fixed by changing the alternator pulley to a thinner one. There is a recon place up near me, im sure it wont be much to swop it.
Have taken it of the car by undoing the mounting braket. 2 bolts easy.

I think ther brakes need looking at as they were working but not great. Maybe air in the fluid or may just need a few miles on them to bed back in.

The inside of the car still looks a mess but we can work around that. One of the last jobs.

Any way big thanks to my mate Barrie for spending the whole day with me.

Please guys any comments will be greatfully received.

I always new I may have an issue with the alternator pulley. Time has not been on my side from day one and instead of waiting a week to have the pulleys modified of a week waiting on them to turn up I thought I would have a go and modifying myself.
Here is the pulley. Big aint it. Come on Ive lost the pas and the belt is only running the alternator.

So I put it in a vice and took 6mm off it. Junior hacksaw cut through it with ease.

Then took a pair of V sharp scissors the the belt.

Then gunned it back on the alternator

Dont think the belt will jump as there is 4 remaining groves.
Will invest in some stikaflex tomorrow to make sure any engine movement is kept to a minimum.

As promised.

The brakes are starting to bed in and the car pulls strongly. Missing 4th gear at the moments. Will need to have a play when time permits.

Just got this little lot to sort out
