Sorted...
Total Price \ Cost of fuel per lit = total litres
Total Litres \ 4.5 = Amount in gallons.
Total mileage \ Amount in gallons = MPG

The formula is in the question. Miles per gallon, as in miles/gallons of fuel used.
Fuel is filled per litre, not per gallon. So unless you know the equative gallons in litres, then you cannot work out mpg.......
Its miles per GALLON not miles per litre

What the fuck are you talking about. The way you work out how many miles per gallon is miles/gallons. How you work out how many gallons of fuel you have used is up to you, but working it out by the ammount of money you have used to fill the car up is hardly accurate.

Your working out on the fuel you have used and the mileage you have done. Not by how many litres your car claims to make by the manufactures..
My bike is 17l tank, i get nearly 20l in there. Hence i work out the MPG per what fuel I use and the milage i get before needing more fuel. I don't work out that i've put in 20l, but only work on 17l.
And whats with all the attitude? Testosterone leaking on the internet or something
I just replied, no need for school boy type im clever your thick attitude is there.

I use a different formula still works though (from filling up the tank until its full ie: not putting just £10 or whatever in):
(Total miles/total litres filled up on) X 4.546
eg: (298 miles / 46.08Litres) X 4.546 = 29.4mpg

Need a better car for doing 500 miles a week in
