On a modern engine that has been looked after (FSH) even 100K is nothing to worry about.
Go for the astra and change the cam belt for peace of mind and your sorted.

85K

Maybe 20 years ago this was high mileage, not anymore, especially if the car has been serviced and maintained.

I've only ever had one low mileage car and it ended up being the biggest dog i've ever owned

If the car has done high motorway miles instead of high say town driving miles what difference does it make? Is motorway miles less stress on the engine?

Have you ever been out in it? Although book figures off the line are similar (7sec V's 8 seconds), the pull the engine generates once you're in gear from 2k rpm is pretty addictive!

Depending on what both cars are worth though, i'd be more inclined to sell yours as standard, and trade for a lower miled GSi .

yes what is it with this mileage issue everyone has, sure it is all in peoples heads these days modern cars should easy hit 130k miles even more before its high mileage, my dad had rover 75 with 157k on clock and it really did feel/pull like it had 50k on clock

Depends how the milage has been put on IMO. i.e very few owners, full service history on an above average mileaged car upto about 6 years old wouldn't bother me. Lots of owners, no service history, and a car that's 12 years old - i'd have to consider whether it was cheap enough or not.

End of the day cars wear with mileage and age - having both in the equation on a car thats been designed for town driving (short ratio gear box - sounds silly but do the math on a car sat at 2krpm thats designed for motorway cruising, and a car doing 3krpm @ 60 for 150k miles...) doesnt appeal to me tbh .
