How easy is it to rebuild an XE?

IF i was going to go for a mk3 Astra, I would go for a late ecotec model.

Less miles on body and engine, and only 14BHP down as standard compared to a redtop.

Plus, it isn't a slow engine. A mate of mine had a ecotec vectra. Nothing wrong with it at all, it went quite well.

Plus, if you decide you want a redtop, buy one, rebuild it in your shed/garage/kitchen and then fit it.
