But if they are painted, whats the difference between wheels and the rest of the car?

see thats my point....if people like there car looking perfect and paint etc looking its very best, then its good... and people with enough money and time to have it properly done regularly..its not wrong

Wheels are on the ground and get sprayed with braking material

But the point here Phi is even when they are going the whole hog all they are doing is washing their car....I personally dont think the term detailing should be used unless some kind of paint correction has been done.

Do you DETAIL your car... or do you wash and polish it like everyone has done for years? i.e in the last year or so did you suddenly start 'detailing' you car?

I don't see what the problem is Its just people wanting to keep their cars as smart as possible and get enjoyment out of doing it.... In the same way some people enjoy using their cars on track, or others prefer Modifying the styling of there car or fitting ICE....
We all enjoy our cars in different ways... Most of which cost big £££ so if someone wants to spend £100's on a wax so be it. Its not your money.

Therefore more beneficial claying them?

I hate it when people say i detailed my car, bullshit you cleaned it, and took way to much time over it.
the word is cleaning or washing.

"Auto detailing is the practice of performing an extremely thorough cleaning, polishing and waxing of an automobile, both inside and out, to produce a show-quality level of detail. It can be practiced for personal satisfaction"
"What is Detailing?
While there are no specific guidelines for what actually makes up a 'detail,' it is typically considered more extensive than washing and drying a car"
I think Detailing just a modern word for a more extensive Wash and Wax

but you never asked that! lol
you said ' what the fuck happened to just WASHING your car, and then polishing/waxing it.'
No one asked wetaher anyone did it......
so my answer was basically saying there is nothign wrong people looking after there cars.... not having a go! just saying!

detailing is just sad imo. Like fad says, it should only be classed as detailing if they are actually having the paint corrected.
People saying they have detailed there car is just bollocks. They have just given their car a good wash and not just a good wash.
