We (the motorist) are getting royally butt fucked at the moment. Fuel prices soaring, road tax has gone up dramatically for anyone that dares to buy a powerful car, talk of congestion charges spreading to other UK cities... but what can we do about it apart from bend over and take it!

On the M60 on my way to work there's a long sweeping blind right turn. It has ALWAYS been posted as 50mph limit, but people used to just fly round there, me included.
One time in the "dead of night with not a soul around" one guy was blasting it round. Little did he know that 4 kids had crashed just round the bend and got out their car. He plowed the lot of them down and killed them.
There's now 50mph average cameras there. Justified?
Dead of the night or not, the hazards remain the same.

I agree with them on accident black spots etc but "virtually every road in Britain"
Just a money making scam. be too expensive to drive before long.

Justified indeed
However, again, the suggestion here is full rollout, not in hazardous areas where Im sure most poeple would agree they nwork 10x better than gatsos/specs/truvlos etc

as soon as anyone kicks up a fuss about the plans the government will only try and claim it will help stop terrorism.

They have them at most roadworks, and I agree with them there.
I do not agree with them on the open road!

TBH they're quite justified. They're put in accident hot spots. How can you argue with that?
it wont stop accidents because as soon as you got above 70 you dont suddenly explode into a forrey of accidents. Its utter bollocks.
People will be driving down there eyes glued on the speedo and not on the road and obstacles around them therefore not driving safely.
TBH i dont know how people without cruise control survive

Bloody hell, that works out at 1 camera every 236m (potentially although there probably mounted 3 per gantry).

Yeah that sounds familiar, government did the same sorta thing when they banned guns. Claimed that banning the private ownership of a fire arm would lead to a decrease in gun crime. Did it? . . . Like hell did it
