the first clubs i played with when i was younger were from bootfairs. 50p and a pound each. Thats a good place to get them. If u start to improve u will get bored of having just a wood or an iron i think..plus woods are more difficult to hit well/learn with.

Get yourself a 3 wood
If there is any sports-soccer shops near you, go and buy a 3 wood, Donnay, will cost you about 10quid, and will be perfect for what you want to use it for
A free wood is much more friendly for someone who doesnt play than a driver and would suit you alot more
Thanks a lot. Just the sort of reply i was after instead of commenting about me not even bothering to play.
Edit: by 'play' i dont mean play on a proper golf-course, or play on a regular basis or even play at all. I simply mean go along to the driving range and hit a few balls. No harm in doing that IMO.

Exactly my point but he dont exactly sound serious about it does he, hence point in going out spending money on a set.

I bought a 3 wood for my very first club but couldn't get used to it. I then bought a 7 iron from JJB and found it easier.

Also buying 1 is very wise, I bought a set for £100 and barely use them

I find it harder to use drivers and woods then irons, but everyone is different. It's only £10 too so go for it!

I dont even know what a driver a wood or an iron even looks like or what difference they are
I simply want a cheap golf club that i can ping balls with at a driving range.

Do they not give you clubs at the range, so you can try them and find out what one works for you

Go sports soccer and pick up a donnay 3/5 wood or even a driver. They are cheap and will be good enough just to hit some balls on the driving range.

Well done, that's good going I am aiming for about 20 in the next few months , should be acheivable if I can keep some sort of consistency
I love golf so much, honestly I would play every day and get really good if I could!

I'm exactly the same. Would love to be able to play everyday and just get down to playing off of scratch. If i can do it then i would love to enter a competition as an amateur

Haimsey, don't buy that one mate, honestly you will not be able to hit it for toffee
I'll look on that website and find you one for cheap
OFF TOPIC: Very nice handicap tomtom, and tom shooting an 86 is good also
My best round is a 79 round a par 69 course which i had never played before, everything went right that day, i just don't get to play enough to sort my official handicap out, officialy i am off 28, but as you will see with my best score, the next comp i enter and play anything like i can do no-one will have a chance giving me 28 shots Net 50 FTW
