If you start the engine with the bonnet up and get somebody who knows what they're listening for they'll be able to tell you.

And no it won't, it's about £10 I think it was, worth a try? I can get some for you as it's a shop near me, and bring it down.

Because when the oil is cold and thick it isn't lubricating the chain very well, when the oil gets up to temp its quieter.

I'm only offering my advice and what I know, but thats the first place I would look on a Corsa C 16v

Sure. I'd be taking it to another garage to get a 2nd opinion, maybe a 3rd

Seriously heard horror stories of them break down seals etc and also everytime I've used them its makes it louder

Was told that it removes all the protective oil layers built over time on the tappets so in essence it does clean them but that isnt always good.

They can only ask for silly amounts of money if you put it in there, I'm just saying get a 2nd opinion on what the problem is. The biggest problem really is they see that you're vulnerable and might pay for work to be done as you don't know if they're lying or not.

Well I'm only going on the fact my engine has done 5000 miles since I put it in and haven't had any problems from it, and it worked.

I've just done headgasket/timing chain gasket on my x12xe, after running it in for 1000 miles on 15/w40 oil i done an oil and filter change, using oil that we use at work, (10/w40)
It's a little noisier now, my advice would be to run it on thicker oil, as theres probably nothing wrong with it.

PS i'm a real mechanic lol

it could be the chain rubbing or slapping slightly against a worn tensioner, chains wear them out.

how many miles has it done?

since when do headgaskets and timing chains need running in on different oils, or running in at all?
