Done a little more this weekend..
Stripped out near enough the rest of the interior.. realised the extent of the water leak... the entire underlay of the carpet was soaked front to rear... so that went in the bin.. only things left to remove are the front door cards
I fitted some bonnet raisers and painted my bonnet black.. mainly due to the very poor condition of the paint on the bonnet, i dont fancy rust to be honest so black hammerite will have to do..
I Also found an induction kit in my garage, the pipe was the correct size for the throttle body so i stuck it on... gotta be worth 1 bhp... maybe Oh, and had to use a coke bottle as a catch tank as the breather ran into the air box.. i will probably replace all this with an enclosed induction kit at some point however.
Lastly i have moved my battery to the rear of the car..
Nice pile of bits to use..
Mounted the battery box here using rivnuts and some M6 bolts..
Using a nice shiny distribution block by the abs pump i attached all the existing positive connections and ran a length of 2awg cable i had in my garage through the bulhead using an existing grommet. I used the original pug screw on earth connection and an M8 Bolt secured to the chassis to make a nice clean earth point in the engne bay..
Ran the cable down the car securing it with some rubber lined p-clips..
Fitted the battery with a battery bag, attached the positive cable, then attached the earth cable which i have bolted to the old seat mounting points which were clean up to make a nice earth.. job jobbed
Next weekend, may fit my brakes an a strut brace

ANy reason why you mounted it there? I would have thought it would make more sense in the well or behind the passenger seat at best?

I wanted to put it in the well, but the fuel tank is mounted about 5mm from the floor so ruled that out.. Im not 100% certain where the cage will run so it may be a case of when the cage is in and the seats are in there may not be enough room behind the seat

Ah right I didnt think of that, ive never seen a big old battery behind the passenger seats, only those slimline race ones anyway.

Small update for the beginning of October..
Had my corbeau fitted with TRS harness.. didnt realize how old the seat actually was till i saw the date stamp.. .. made 1991 seems ok..
Also got round to fitting my brakes... tarox discs and ferrodo ds3000 pads... yey for brakes they stop you (but not very well when they are cold )
Also removed the driving lights and cut away the inner arch liner.. cheap ass brake cooling.. nice..
ooohhh brakes...
Also fitted my old momo steering wheel from my xe corsa.. boss came from bulgaria
Also lost some weight with the airbag loom, control unit etc and removed the front door cards and stero etc... not sure what the next move will be moneys tight at the mo.. think i should get it to a track and see how i get on
