I get the distinct feeling he won't be good enough until Rafa makes a move for him in the next transfer window

Even then I wouldnt think he was good enough - at least not unless he improves over what he is now a great deal.

As I said last summer - I personally see him as a really pacey forward with a poor end product. I know he got a hatrick in this first game, but he didnt prove me wrong last season and I doubt he will prove me wrong this season either.

I certainly dont big up every player we sign

Dont want Barry, and we have some poor players in the squad as it is.

Aston Villa contains a player that sat with his face tripping him the day Celtic won the league because he wanted to leave and another one that sat and collected a wage for months whilst we aided his recovery from injury only to leave for the bright lights of the Prem.

They're also managed by a guy that extended and increased the contracts of several 30+ year olds that still cripples us to this day and collected an 'advisors' wage of over £1 million a year whilst sitting on his backside.

I am not an Aston Villa fan

Only problem with that Jiz is that Rooney likes to come deep too much and we'd end up with a 6 man midfield!

That's where Capello comes in, he's got to tell 'Wazza' that he can't be doing that, he does what Ferguson tells him, and to be fair McLaren probably got some idiot to do the team talks and Sven doesn't seem the type to put somebody in their place.

Yeah but IMO thats most of Rooneys game you'd cut out. He isnt a prolific on the last man type of forward, he is a link kind of forward.

Well I think if England just played a bit more freely they'd see some benefits, give Gerrard a license to roam, he can score you plenty. The problem with England is their best striker is happy to sit on a sickbed for £120k a week and when he gets fit, he soon gets unfit again.

No I agree Id like both Rooney and Gerrard to have more of a free role, but you need someone up there who is an out and out forward (like Liverpool have Torres) as otherwise would all be too deep.

Teams sit deep because there not being told not to be deep, what I'm saying is as a professional footballer on £????'s a week should be able to process the information a manager says to them, if they can't the results end up being... sat too deep, not seeing a pass, no movement etc... if any of them occur it's because the manager is employing the wrong personnel, it's then upto him to get rid of them or improve them. Capello's capable of doing that, but he needs to be around for another 4 world cups in order to match us, but he can do it by playing the same as brazil always has.

Something along these lines for me:

-------------------James---------------------

--Richards---Ferdinand---Terry--Cole--

------Cole----Hargreaves----Barry------

----------Rooney------Gerrard------------

-------------------Owen---------------------

You are allowed 11 on the pitch though Moe, no good having 10 and an injured striker sat on the floor.

Also it pains me to say it but Ashley Cole is the best left back in England, it doesn't say much for English full backs when your best two are a centre back convert and a referee abusing weedy rake.
