Doug, my missus has a 1.4 Ghia X Mk4 which is basically a pre-facelift of this. They are really good cars, hers handles well and goes really well. Will hit 90mph  no problem.
Hers is rusting in the usual places for a Fiesta, however I haven't seen as much rust on Mk5's as previous models. The boot floor is quite high but spacious, rear leg room is good also.
I'd rather have a Zetec S over Corsa Sport.

The main problem is that all the Zetec engines, so 1.25, 1.4 and 1.6 all like to consume oil, without much notice, and the oil pressure light isn't hugely accurate.
As long as the car has a FSH, and been looked after, then it should be ok. My missus' hadn't and the bottom end went. The fix is quite difficult because of rare parts, but she got it done in London in the end.
Apart from that, quality motors they did do quite a few Fiesta's (MK4 & 5) that had the 1.3 Endura engine, which is also found in all KA's. This seems to be more bomb proof, but 8v and not as good performance wise.

Ye the cars a great runner, never had a problem with it apart from when the power steerin column snapped and thats it, starts up everytime without a problem. Theres no rust on the car, just the odd stone chip here and there. I WOULD SWAP FOR A SPORT. Stokid dave il u2u when i get home from work

Deano it's a 1.6, my mom had one I loved it's ride, but my nan and mom hated it, said the suspension was too stiff so she sold it for a 1.25 mk4 Fiesta, I would so bye that off you if I had the money though mate, boot is an easy fix. Hope it sells well.

Tax will be what ever a 1500cc is pre-2001 as it's a W-reg  come speced with CD player, air con, ABS, PAS, drivers airbag for sure, may be passenger, electric windows and mirrors. Possibly heated front screen which heats the washer jets too
