Not really, if you were bench testing the engine - ie. out of the car straight to a dyno then you would get a fly figure, and an accurate one at that. Conversion back to fly if you measure wheel power is not exact, hence the debate, but the comparison can be made nevertheless.

Rite chris i ant happy that you have brought this debate onto another form slagging me off.
I am the owner of vauxonline and myself my sister and joey use mick at hi-tech very oftern and we all called him up more than once to confirm that these figures were at the wheel BHP which the magazine clearly states does it not ????
And as for cars geting more or less BHP no one can really explain thats just how things go on a rolling road day !
This really is a joke now, my sisters coupe at 2 rolling road printouts now one from hi-tech and one from courtenay and the one from hitech says 255 and courtenays said 167 ( i think not 100%) ..
How can a z20let running a courtenay stage 3 produce less than 250BHP at the wheels
Ring courtenay for yourselves and ask this question but i am right and chris is just a stubbern idot that cant admit he is wrong

So just to clarify - a standard Corsa 1.2 16v which books at 75bhp at the fly did 79 at the wheels. That's over 100 at the fly? X16XE books at similar, no?
Corsa GSi in there which appears to not be running right comes in with only 2 brake less at the wheels than book at the fly?
Do you not see anything straight with those results?

well chris says his "so" standerd VX200 achived the result he had, when it actually had a full stainless, enlarged throttle body and other bits said by his friend....
I dont know why he even has to bring it up anywhere else, at the end of the day total vauxhall made sure the results were at the wheels because it wont tie in with there league tables.
If anyone wants to find out that i am right, ring mick at hi tech, mick at courtenay sport ( he knows my sisters car very well ) or the bloke that come to the rolling road day with us
Then when they have said its not wheel power come back to me and say that we are all wrong.
Chris hasent even rung hi-tech to ask for himself what was going on so i stand my ground in saying
ITS AT THE WHEELS !!

I can see where your coming from but your telling me a Z20LET with a courtenay stage 3 runs 255 at the fly wheel ... NOT A CHANCE .. its 199 at the wheels standerd FFS

Just to confirm, you are 100% in the wrong, how can so many people think their cars make so much more power over standard

That's assuming the car was making standard power to start with and the mods actually made it quicker.
It's 199 fly standard btw.

get a life.
it doesnt even really matter about peak power anyway, i'd rather hae much more power spread out through the rev range rather than one huge surge of power at the end of the rev range.

He doesn't have to stick up for himself.
All he has to do is realise that the figures quoted are at the fly, as standard practice in this country.

The "courteney stage 3" reference is my fave as its extremely scientific and quantifiable.
Infact its a watertight argument.
END OF THREAD.

load of tosh no way a 20xe would make 200 BHP ath the fly let alone the wheels with standard inlet tract and 270 degree cams in fact to make 200 bhp before 6000 rpm doesn't sound realistic even on a throttle bodied engine.
