i think about 70k over 5 years isnt too bad for a monthly payment if the car is nice enough.

Just never really had car finance since my 1st car :/

and never really spent that much on a car purchase before... 13k or something

What about an alternative of leasing an expensive car as its a bloody huge expense and possibly loos in depreciation if you buy something that you later dont like?

na..... we are leasing the Navara just now...

2years at 350 a month or something... £8400 with no return, Would an 08 Navara lose 8.4k in 2 years..... maybe, probably.

I dont think an R8 would lose 25k or so in 2 years for example if you leased it at 1200 a month.

found an example...

Leasing an R8 for 36months....

£1347 a month, with 3+35, so £51,186

nae so great a deal.

Buy that car new, and pay 1500 for 4 1/2 years or something... much better prospect

lots of things... but it will have to wait till after out wedding

Just sold the flat in Edinburgh, so things shouldnt be so tight.

R35 GTR
R8
993 Turbo
NSX

heart wants a GTR, but I think the R8 and 993 Turbo would be better buys. Can see the GTR price falling faster than R8's, and the 993 has fairly steady prices.

AK I was meaning 30% of monthly so not 30% of there year;ly because there taking the cars over an average of say 5 years.. So there car is actually worth a lot more than there yearly salary..

Nice list

Just think if you invested in a 993 turbo three years ago you'd of been laughing all the way to the bank.

R35 would be supreme but a friend of a friend who owns a prestiege cr hire firm ordered their R35 earlier this year and its delivery date is next Christmas

R8 will lose more than 25k in 2yrs. On an 80k car the dealer margin is going to be 8-10k so you'll lose that as soon as you drive it away. They're starting to become available at sub 70k asking price. Given nobody is buying supercars at the moment, I wouldn't bid more than 65k. Realistically, now that the hype has died away, and with the V10 looming I'd expect the R8 to be at 50k in 12mths time.

At that sort of price point I'd be in an early Gallardo at c.65k.

993 Turbo would be a safer bet and I can't see much more slip on a 996 TT at not much over 30k.

imo i couldnt justify spending that amount of money on a car if you couldnt afford it out right, i would much rather save the money up and pay the mortage or earlier and then save up and buy the car later on in life and then i think i would appreciate it more as would of really worked hard to get it and have a mortage free life, obviously if you move to a bigger house and need to get a bigger mortage this could all change but theres my 2p`s worth.

i'd have to save for a hell of a long time to pay the mortgage

i'd hope we'd be on a pretty decent combined salary when we look at gettiing a new new car. Thats my thoughts anyway. The other thought is live off 1 of the salaries, and save the other for 2 years and buy another house

I'm not so sure, its hard with the current situation to tell really. It could easily loose 25k if enough start coming on the market.

That said, R8

GTR
NSX
R8
Porkie

GTR just because of the leap in electronics and £ per buck.
NSX, liek your porsche, theres not THAT many about, and now the production has ceased it'll go up in value. Buy it now and make a few bucks in 10 years time, but its the fact u'd have to hold onto it, and also, the overall power would be a dissapointment.

Porkies at the bottom, why? Take a trip to london, look at all the ignorent banker/solicitor to55er types and u'd instantly be put off

Isn't like a full on spec flatnose quite high in price, almost like they are also on the way back up again due to the limited numbers they made? Im sure I saw a flatnose, special edition (track, or turbo version?? Was a while back) and it was like £50k. A little like your red one, but with huge front lower lip, wider arches, big spoiler etc..

Ahhhh

935... It was a road going version of this.

whet.....

A hell of a lot of people can afford 50k cars.... why are so many made/sold if they cant ~:/

I dont own a 50k car, I havent bought one either. Just asking other peoples perspective on what they 'afford' in relation to their salary.
