I've got to agree there, about a month back I spent most nights looking through reviews for the 450D, D60 and A350. Different reviews rating each camera differently.
End of the day, you get Canon people, Nikon people and I imagine, Sony, Olympus, Pentax people etc.
Different people prefer different menu layouts etc. I had my S5600 and to change the ISO you went into a menu, down 1, enter then you scroll through the options. I always thought it was a bit arkward considering I tended to use it quite regularly. I believe the Nikons are a similar layout but the canons have an ISO button, so it's 1 button, scroll, 1 button, set.
That was one of the reasons I chose Canon, it seemed a more usable menu setup. Also the Nikons lack of an internal focusing motor was a big turn off. I also thought the Live View would probably come in handy too, the Sony also has Live View although I'd heard bad things about their high ISO handling which was probably the most annoying thing about my S5600

Seriouslly, Go look for a second hand deal, EOS 400D with a few lens, A great start to learning photography with some added benifits of AF etc...
Nikon produce good images (probally better then canon) at the buget end of the scale BUT YOU HAVE TO KNOW THE CAMERA
Whittie would beat me hands down with his Nikon - Why? Because he read the manual and learnt. Something that not many people would do and i hold my hat off to him for spending the time to do so.

2nd hand in the camera world is not like the shit you see in the car world.
Camera's are well looked after...
Anyway, i've said enough, Happy Snapping

Very good IMO, but can be had for £250 second hand and means you don't have to use vouchers
Mine was awesome but I ended up moving up a couple of bodies in the range.

It is, it's newer than the 400D and comes with an IS lens, there probably isn't much in it though.

I see, I'd still go for it though (400D / 450D)

450 is out of budget, why the 400 over the 1000D?
1000D has liveview, better high iso perforamce, bigger battery, IS lens, etc etc.
The 1000D is technically the update to the 400D, the 450D is the next level up.

I know, I'm fully aware it's not a cheap hobby, I was referring more to the Corsa sat on the drive that I've spent probably circa 6k on since I got it And still plenty more to come.
My next planned lens is about £400

Altogether, 2k to buy, 3k on mods, just short of 1k on fixing.
Wait till I start doing the proper mods

1000D i thought was below the 400D, probaly wrong but nevermind.
liveview sucks, no point in it IMO
Higher ISO - i dont have a use for this tbh,
bigger battery - grip the fucking thing and charger extra's?
IS lens - is the only advantage i can see, but your going to buy other lens anyway IMO...?
just my views on things
