well today seen me in to start the preping the car , nothing to drastic needing done but few dents etc normal stuff for a car 20 years old





all filled and ready to prime





rest of the car stripped ready to start the paint work now all off the wiring loom , steering column and clutch and throttle cable oh and peddle box and servo

now this is total naked 8)

and on that note a was back in today to start the painting so had to give a few of the boys a shout as the team are still off till monday , so cheers guys :wink:

first off moved the car into the booth and panel wiped it all




then on to the etch primer




then started the high build primer

onit 8)




then full car primed






now ready to paint woohoo 8)

its going back to black nothing exciting but black is company colours and thats main reason the builds went this far to promote what sounds of silence can fully do,

and for another little update ,

today seen the car go into paint , big ups to toffi nice job for first day back :wink: dont say a aint nice to ya

and on that note always bet on black

apologies for pics taking on phone rather than with my camera(get better ones tomorra)





pictures really dont do it justice imo coz this really is to die for 8)

not a bad turn around for a few days, still got fibreglass doors,boot lid and bonnet to paint but that will be a last minute job so they dont get damaged while rest of car is getting built,

next up - engine build

spent last few days sorting out all last bits and bobs i need for engine build, and finding someone to flock the dash,

few engine parts going away to be polished up, so gave a mate a call to help sort it out, cheers daz
gota the parts i wanted preped ready to go to polishers

manifold was 1st on hit list -


started on 80 grit as it was pretty heavy and took down all the cast lines


up to 320grit


800grit


1000grit






1500grit






used a bit autoglym metal polish to see where i was at


trying out a bench mop next door

rocker covers werent as bad




still had to face them off got stuck in with 320grit

the car got flattened and polished and took back out the booth then back into position to start the rebuild , and build the engine.

now first off was to start by putting the steering column and servo back in



then the full car loom had to be put back in as i removed this for painting.



removed the tape so i could re tape and remove any wiring thats not getting used and make it alitte neater






part of the dash and wiring back in



one of my fav new bits hahahah and new master cylinder and res bottle and cap with float




nice new competition engine mounts





made a start at the brake pipes etc before the engine goes into place

then i started putting the proper engine together




nice new oversized forged pistons




ARP rod bolts



lightened polished and shot peened rods and fully balanced bottom end



new oil pump



next up was the head rebuild

the head got completely stripped and sent away to get skimmed and the valves recut

when it cam back the valves got lapped back in and refitted

Coming along well, did you use standard valve springs or uprate them ?

Surprised you havent use vernier pulleys too ..

they are double vale springs as standard

and no need for vernier pulleys as can adjust standard pullys on the gti-6 head

managed a bit more work on it over the weekend and last few days , spent alot of time having to get braided pipe etc made up ( not been easy :twisted: ).

got all the brake pipes made and engine bay ready for engine .




gearbox on engine and turbo fixed down inc all oil and water pipes fitted .





engine mounted up and fixed in
