A £2.99 5l plastic jobbie would be a much better idea though!
Just back from buying two 20l ALDI jerry cans. Seem good enough, no securing pin for the caps though... and the welding isnt as neat as more expensive cans!
I was just about to ask how good these are. As the Halfords ones are £30 But they do have the locking pin!

tbh if you plan ahead, there should never be a need for a can.

Also, you wouldn't want to run a diesel that low anyway - not good for it!

It's an urban myth, petrol anyway. The people who say 'all the shit at the bottom of the tank's gonna get through and fuck things up' should be shot. There's a fuel filter for a reason!
I've ran out of petrol 3 times in the corsa due to the lockwood dials not lining up properly

The main reason I make sure I never run out of fuel is the embarrasment of having to phone somebody for something so stupid, i'd never live it down.

That and I don't think the AA come out for running out of fuel - not that you need to tell them you have

Not that black and white. If you are somewhere and requiring fuel it makes sense to bring it with you rather than travel to a pump, waste more time, then return.
Eck- Ebay are good too. Last week I bought 2x 20l and spout for £41 delivered. VERY good quality cans.
B&Q sell 10 and 5l metal jerry cans too i think. Thats where we got our 10l

Fair enough if you are on a track day or something.
Not if it's a 2.0DTi workhorse for Uni and back

20l is daft to keep in the boot just incase though You'll burn more fuel carting it round all the time 'just in case'
5l plastic will do

Ive lost count of the amount of times ive ran out of fuel and had to get some1 out to take me to the petrol station.Used to just keep putting it off and saying itl be fine theyrs plenty, then the inevetible happens.
Had to jump/tow my old 306Dturbo when it ran out of fuel as the battery just kept going dead trying to start it.
