The wheel's going to need fixing though, is that sort of thing repairable or am I going to need a new one?
Pow, I did Mechanical Engineering in college so could probably do it, but if someone who knows what their doing will fit it then bonus
[Edited on 03-02-2009 by Daveskater]
in the last pic the rear wheel looks like it has got a big kink in it so would have to be a new one, scuffs are repairable

few things to watch out for when replacing back axle is the load bearing tensioner things, and if your front arms/ball joints are gone there are two different sizes pre 97 and post 97! make sure you get the right one cause i didn't and it made the car feel mental!

The what?
The rear beam is really simplistic on the Corsa, it literally is just a BEAM!
Only real problem you will have is the brake hoses, they tend to corrode like a cow! So soak the bits that go into the rear drums and where they connect to the rubber hoses in LOADS of WD40 for a couple of days in advance while you are looking for a beam.. Best bet is to get a complete rear beam with drums/brake lines on it, makes life much easier

Doub it would make a difference.. And even if it did make the rear beam stiffer it would probably bend the monocoque instead!

The thing which needs adjusting on 1.4 16v and 1.6 16v cars when you lower, as it thinks the car as extra weight applying more braking power to the back.
Incidentally, the 1.2 16v and 12v's don't have these as far as I know

Did the same thing on mine Dave, wasn't as bent as that, but a new rear axle in and it was sorted, get new bearings for the axle though, I left the old ones on and it collapsed and my wheel came off at 70mph a week later

Well I had a mate help me but we managed it within a couple of hours. Granted he knows what he is doing but there really isn't much too it!
Hardest bit I'd say was wiring up the drums again and getting the handbrake cable on.
Here was mine:

Cool, yours looks quite similar. Will have to ask round scrappies then, I think it might cost way too much to take it to Tom
My mum said "it'll be hundreds" and I really don't have that much money. I have insurance and MOT to pay for in the next couple of weeks

Cost me £50 for a rear beam...could have got it for £30 but needed it that day. Then chucked my mate a bit for helping out at such short notice.
