An XE is 150 standard? So you'd rather spend double the money for the same power. I can see where your coming from tbh

be more that double though. tb's 1000+ management say 600 for cheaper stuff like gotec or dta s40, mapping 250+
can do xe conversion with all parts if using the 1.6 shafts for 500 ish. maybe less if your lucky.

Depends on the budget and the goal.
£1000 you could have;
C20XE with around 150bhp fitted.
3.0 V6 with about 200bhp and a shit load of torque fitted.
£2000 buys you;
C20LET fitted for 210bhp
C16XE ITB'd for 160bhp
£3000 would buy you;
C20XE ITB'd for about 190bhp
C20LET uprated to 300bhp
Then the skys the limit - speed is a uestion of money: how fast can you afford to go?
If it were my car, id just bolt a 3.0 V6 in for cheap reliable power. Ive had one before and it was more fun, faster, and handled no differently to an XE conversion. If anything it felt more planted.
But its your money, waste it as you wish. As far as building engines goes, there is no such thing as a conversion being 'too common' you start with the best base and build upwards... only retards try and build a 160bhp 1.6 when you could slot a bigger lump in for less cash for better results.
