cheaper how many bottles would you use do clean a block then not onli that but your finish wont last longer than a month stripping the iron will just make it prone to weathering and the soon enough looking all shity'd up again so all the magical penny saver methods are for nothing

On a cast iron it doesnt matter what you use to clean it, its going to oxidise faster than you can say rusty barnicles so what is your point?
This is more to do with cleaning a block when you are re-building it, its a good way to remove all of the oil and scale so you can be sure of a good surface for external painting and obviously be sure the gaskets will seal well.

Engine components are normally dipped in a much more acidic solution for cleaning, by compairson vinegar is very mild!
