Its upsetting finding out a car was a previous write off, but the fact its a CAT C doesnt really detract from the value as it was 9 years ago that it was written off.. it was obviously repaired very well.. a friend of mine owned a cat c calibra for over 5years, never missed a beat, scrubbed tyres or anything, but he knew it was a cat c when he bought it...
good luck with the sale mike, you may find you get more for it than you are expecting

I thought CAT C's had to be listed on the logbook, is there nothing on there?
Sorry to hear you've only just found out though mate, and ogod luck with the sale.

Write off or not you will get £2k for that car easy.
Stick it up for £2300 in your Ebay listing and some1 will buy it.
If i didnt have a ban on my licence my car would be up for sale in a flash and id happily pay £2k for that car.
Good luck with the sale.

What does it matter if its CAT C? Someone looking to buy an older shape M3 will know there arent many kicking bout anymore and will come and look over it properly, and as said, its gone fine for the last 8/9 years.
Also, 6 coil packs?

I wouldn't make such a big deal about it being a CAT C, its a 15 year old car and you're wanting a couple of grand for it.
Call John Clark BMW in Aberdeen on 01224 335533 to see if they can help provide some of the service history as I'm fairly sure I remember this car from when I worked there in the late 90s.

I thought this too, no there is nothing on there.
Twiggy, No its not on E36coupe.com yet, will get it on there.
Yes £2,000 is a steal for the amount of car you are getting, CAT C or not.

does cat c affect the price of insuring it?

It apparently doesn't affect the price of insuring it but somebody recently mentioned it affects how much they pay out in the event of a crash, I have no idea if this is true or not.

No, the insurance isnt affected, but with it being a Group 20 car the insurance isnt too friendly as it is.
