My brother had an LCR. It was remapped and had a full miltek system. Rolling roaded @ 266 bhp.
It was pretty quick. Such a nice feel to it too. Can't beat German quality.

Do you know if yours was 210 or 225 standard?

Just to annoy you, paint fade can only be sorted by a re-spray. The fade is the paint itself, something to do with Seat not putting enough UV protection in the lacquer Sucks I know

Whoever told you that was either speaking a load of shit, winding you up, or maybe he owned a bodyshop and was hoping to get a full respray job out of it.
I just asked my bro who knows what hes talking about when it comes to paint and restoring it.

I wish i could remember exactly what my brother told me, but he said something like there being UV reflectors (i think) in the clear coat, and the shine would only be compromised if 50-60% of that was removed.
Don't quote me on that though, I may have mixed up what my brother said

It happens on all Onvi yellow Seat. A machine polish may help a little but won't cure the fade. If it hasn't been resprayed with a single stage (you will get pigment on cloth/pad when polishing), a respray is the only answer My Ibiza is really bad for fading, I took the Cupra badge of mine today, after a T-cut and wax it still shows (the badge had been on for about 3-4 years)

Just found this, written by Prestige Polish (some detailer guy)
quote:
IF you have not had any paintwork carried out on the area in question of fading then you have a clear coat. If it's ever been resprayed then there is a possibility that it is a single stage paint but you won't know for sure untill you tackle it with a polish of some sort. If you get colour pigment on your pad when polishing then it is single stage and will have been resprayed at some point as these are clearcoat as standard.
If you get colour pigment on your pad then the problem can be resolved with a machine polish.
If you don't get colour pigment on your pad then you have a clear coat and might still be factory standard clear coat. If this is the case then it might still be able to be fixed without a respray if it's the clear coat that has oxidised.
BUT...
It could be the paint that has oxidised and if this turns out to be the case then a respray will be needed to fix this problem as no ammount of machine polishing will fix this without burning through the clear coat but that is something you really want to avoid doing.

You can't exactly cure fade. You just really have to protect it and look after it to slow down the process.
I hear Dodo Banana Amour is very highly recommended for yellow cars.
One of my brothers mates who's also a detailer has a yellow Ibiza, and last time I saw that it didn't look faded at all, and I very much doubt it had been resprayed.

I think its one of those things though, if you keep on top of it before its a problem, its ok

Want to see some pics! Even better if I see it in the flesh next week
The Derby meet should be a good one, got about 15names down on the list already, plus we going to be doing some videos as a few people have had new exhausts or changes to their exhausts and want some sound clips
