As far as i can see, Bentley played once?

Upson 35 so fair enough, he just wasn't good enough

and Pennant 12 games, scoring 3?

Hardly a massive chance really, i think the above are league games

Bentley was plenty good enough for arsenal, just didnt get a proper chance
Bentley played loads fo times for us, only one or 2 league appearances though and he wasnt prepared to wait his turn... he got a perfectly good chance then bitched and moaned and left. TS

End of thee day as mr sandwich saud, its not wengers job to build the england team and hes not been prepared to shell out the £20m for an owen hargreaves nor the £27m for a Wayne Rooney nor the £30m for a Rio Ferdinand and you cant exactly have a go for that. IIRC we would ahve won the league title in 2004 (unbeaten by the by) with just the 2 english players, ashley cole and sol campbell... noone was complainign that there were too few englishmen then so not sure why its an issue now

How many of the England squad are from the Manchester United youth academy?

You can't buy all West Ham (amongst others) English talent for tens of millions then sit on your high horse about Arsenal

Personally I'd love for the 5+6 rule to come in. It won't though so this thread is pointless.

FPMSL - thats the second time in a few days Ive seen you use that!!

You can step down off that high and mightly horse, as you are buying all your players with debt and not with profits from being a 'big club'.

Exactly - the problem is that the english players think its thier right to play in the first team over other players that are better. Its ironic that around 3 months after Bently left we had a load of injuries and ended up giving a number of the young guys a run out in the first team. If he had stayed put he would have been at the top of the list to play.

The fact is if england was producing lots of good players then Arsenal would have a team full of them. The fact is we are not and most are crap.

Look across the whole league and see towards the bottom how many foreign medeoka players are there.I would say there is a much bigger argument that the further down you are the most UK players you should have. Once they get experience they will move up the world stage.

Teams like Arsenal / ManU can't be expected to produce all the england players.

The fact is the country is screwed sporting wise from a young age. Compare how much sport was done in schools 20 years ago to now. MUCH MUCH less. That then just has the knock-on effect. The less that start the less that will be there after a few years.

And sorry but mentioning Pennant is just silly. Would you would want a juvenile who steals cars, convicted drink driver multiple times on your team?
