I had an f20 on a c20let and it lasted as long as I wanted it too,
It lasted over a year in the car. (Not in my ownership)

Personally and talking from experience, I'd wait until I could afford the best bits that I wanted. Couple years ago when I had the Xe I fitted all the 'proper' conversion parts, shafts, hubs, cv's etc and i never experienced a problem. But thats just me, there will be a few people on here who have ran cav bits and all that jazz with no problems at all.
It is agg having to remove the box and put a F28 in but its no impossible by any means.
what sort of spec engine are you after?

I ran welded shafts and mounts made from box section on my XE Corsa with not 1 single problem.

I had my f28 in and out 4 times because of a dodgy rebuild, it gets easy after a while lol. An f20 with a lsd will be just as good.
