Fair play wanting to have a go, but I see it being a struggle from the word go, more so than it normally would be for any other business just starting out.

I think the main reason for this is the fact 3 of you are in on doing it and therefore you have 3 wages to pay. So with that being your main overhead, you need to consider van insurance, maintenance, fuel, maintenance to whatever cooking equipment you use, tax etc.

You'd have to earn about a grand a week to keep on top of it all, so if a roll is for example £1, can you sell 1000 in a week?(excluding the cost of you buying in the food to start with)

I'd say it would be good to do on your own, but not 3 of you for a whole host of reasons

It wont make you rich, it will just earn you a wage and nothing more- it certainly wont pay for 3 of you. Its more something id save for weekends and do event catering ontop of a steady job in the week. A catering trailor wont earn enough money to warrant several people pitching money in either, and finally business partnerships seldom work so its a venture you would be better off doing alone if you wish to succeed.

A better business would be garden maintenance and landscaping, people who pay money to have their garden looked after are not affected by the recession anyway so you wil always have steady business with a summer boom.

Window cleaning is another good one. £30-£40 an hour and all you need is a ladder, a bucket and some water so about £100 outlay and water is free so no overheads.

Im in the process of starting a garden maintenance and landscaping business. £2500 is gong to be enough to get me started, and its not a difficult trade to learn.

I dont see a problem with 3 people doing it, if they are all willing to pitch in and work hard then thats 3x the amount of work being done than someone on their own could do - its also a nice easy way to expand to 3 vans in the future without having to employ and trust others to run each one.

As said its not going to make you rich, or even a great income, with just one - but if you work hard then you have to start somewhere and could bring in a great income in the future.

Why do they all need to be in the one van?

All can prep and one can work, maybe two, each day. That way they can all keep up another job to bring in an income to live off whilst building a business.

Why do people keep going on about experience? Bread, butter, filling. Not hard is it. Few flyers here and there. Parking up in the right location. Give it a shot, kyle.
