A 350Z with a Nismo exhaust is a quite stupendous noise.

I bought a 04 plate 350z about a month ago and absolutely love it. So quick and picks up well. Sound is awesome. Feels solid and sturdy on the motorway. All in all a great car and unbelievable value for money. Gutted that I may have to sell it to buy a house - tossing up my priorities at the moment!!

I'm wierd like you mate, current cars i'm looking at are vx220 and octavia vrs for instance.

I'd have the 7 series, you can get one with some fancy toys thats still rwd and faster than the 350z.

Don't put shit wheels like your passat though, they are sick in a bad way.

Bump

So recently ive been fed up of my Punto, i just cba spending money on it to make it quicker, its coming up for a year old too

Originally i fancied a vxr of somesort, after a look about i came across 350z's and for a jap car with a 276bhp v6 the insurance is only about £100 more than a vxr

I found this one of ph
http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/1228262.htm

hes offered me 8750 for my punto in part ex, which is more than enough to clear my finance and leave me a couple grand for a deposit

after looking about on 350z-uk.com ive become infatuated,

they seem alot of car for the money, people ive spoke to say the 276bhp is the most tuneable and to go for pre 2006 as post now have 435 a year tax

has anyone owned one? what are they like as a daily? whats the reliability like? jap cars are generally good arent they?

any common faults? things to look out for?

fuel economy fluctuates between 22-32mpg depending on length of trips and how hard you drive it.

Std wheels need spacers to look ok, and lowering with springs at least is a must to sort the stance.

Check the belts, check for creaky rear drop links, and mostly check for noisy clutch...
clutchs go quite often 30-60k miles, and are fairly expensive to do as you need a flywheel aswell.

Tyres can be expensive too. And the dealers are a rip off so get it serviced at an independant or specialist.

Other than that, enjoy it, they are a great car. Mine had a Nismo exhaust originally i never should of got rid of it.

Mine when standard:

and the moral is... dont mod it, your money disappears!

Thanks Adi, thats another great insight, tbh my punto only does 34mpg so its not alot of difference there

Tyres ill get a cost price with working in a parts dept, plus trade price parts, my mate also used to be a workshop controller at Nissan and not to mention Abp in crewe isnt a million miles away

What spoiler is that btw? seen it a few times now

Nismo V2 with a carbon blade mate, the most subtle of the 'bigger' wings.

Ideally i would of got something else but the nicer wings are £700+ !

Ive had two and they are very nice; dont feel overly quick, but there is more than enough there and sound is amazing.
Here are my old ones

Prefered this combo tho

You need to keep your eye out for the syncro on the box tho when looking at them

Very nice cars I was lucky enough to drive one exactly the same as your second one Matt very nice in the Grey and Tan combo IMO

Also Adi's is a very nice example he was a nice enough chap to take me out in one....Its definately tempting and interesting as its now fallen into that M3/Evo/WRX Sti price bracket.

One thing that scares me is that the one I drove had 25k miles and already had two clutches and flywheels

I am also looking at these.

Its a great car for the money. Just save up 1k for a clutch as it will happen soon enough

More than adequete not what you call rip your face off fast like a tuned scooby/Evo but not exactly what you would call a slouch. Its more how it feels and drives IMO nice low slung driving position butch gear change and instant pick up and so quick in gear I only drove it down a duel carriage way and round town so didnt really chuck it about. Soundtack is amazing and civilized when you want it to be.

Visibiity is pretty poor out of the rear of them and for a 2 seater coupe they do feel quite big!

Another interesting car to add to the wish list

The bigness gives them presence though I think. I'd have one for sure. although now adi mentioned about spacers on the original wheels I can see it where I never noticed that before, could do with pusing out a bit.
