best way to find out compression is to mount the x16xe crank with the x18xe pistons and crank in the 1,8 block and using a pipet to find volume, btw x16xe head cc is around 33.6cc

hone it yourself a honing tool is less than £20.
and that list makes more sense whats wrong with the current 1800 pistons though?

I'm not doing it myself with a drill hone attachment lol! I want round, true bores.. Its going to cost me £30 to have the bores de-glazed and checked for 'round', if the block is good I'll start the build

I cant see this working, everything is going to have to be custom for it with plenty of guesswork involved. The management alone is going to cost over a grand if you want it to work properly.
Surely it just makes more sense to buy a LET in the first place?

Honing won't affect the roundess of your bores, its a finishing process.

as rcs says all honing does it put cross hatches in the bores for the pistons to bed into.

Those honing tools are pants, you can never replicate the finish from one bore to another because your arm doesn't move in a uniform motion like a proper boring machine.
If you have the drill at a slight angle, it WILL oval the bore.
For the sake of £30/40 a bore, it's best to get it done properly tbh, no point in messing around.

What? The tool is spring loaded to follow the shape of the bore All you have to do is not stop the drill when you have it inside the cylinder!

Those tools are rubbish.. Its going to cost me £30 to get all four bores done professionally and checked with a bore-gauge..

The XE1 pistons are not forged or treated, I'm lead to believe the Z18XER pistons are forged.

Custom exhaust and inlet manifolds and exhaust system, Cam will probably need re-profiling to get the right corrected compression ratio too. Also your looking at £500 for a useful ECU and then another £500 minimum for a custom map to be made for it.
Sounds like a shit load of cost for something that might not even work. I also think the rods and throw on the crank will probably lower the CR too much, without working it out myself but 1mm off the rod length plus a shorter throw on the crank will serve to lower compression a shit load.
Your best off just putting a low boost turbo on a standard 1800 if you must have a turbo 1800, otherwise a let will be less problematic less cost and more powerful.

Rod length isnt being touched.. It will just be de-stroked creating an over-square engine which should make it more reliable.
The displacement is reduced by nearly 10% and the combustion chamber volume is staying the same so you would expect the CR to drop by the same which would give about 9.5:1 a little high if anything.
Custom inlet and manifold arent an issue, I'll make them myself.. The only killer costs for me are the pistons and the management..

ZLET is the only big block engine I would ever consider, but I dont want big block, too heavy..
If I was going to buy "off the shelf" so to speak I'd hold out for a Corsa D VXR/SRI engine.
