Poor little car
Shame it wasn't stored properly.
Would probably have been better off outside on some hard standing in a south facing area.
If it had been in a climate controlled garage for eighteen years and was white with Twin Cam badges on the wings, i'd have given your Nanna at least fifty quid for the old girl.

Cheers for the info guys.
Just had some more info off my dad, its not an auto, my grandad fitted a T bar to the gear lever to make it look like an american shifter i just presumed it was auto 4 speed manual baby! also, its been in there 21 years now, not 18!
Going to try and get down there next week / weekend with a jack, and try and jack it up on the rear axel or somewhere that wont collapse to try and get a better idea of floor condition.
Any other areas i should be looking for to take pics?
Thanks very much for the help.
Oh, and the formica on the dash & doors was fitted by grandad, and the seats are supposedly mint under the covers, will have a look, only got 60k-ish on the clock, and two owners from new!
What a waste, wish i'd remebered she had this about 10 years ago

Oh, and it wont be getting scrapped, ever, if we didnt sell it, it would just sit there.
We now realise if it had been left on the drive it would have been in better nick, butit was literally driven into the garage, and left.

Mark, if you're going to jack it up, do so either in the middle of the front crossmember or on the bottom of the diff case. Both will be the safest and most solid places to jack and you won't damage anything.

If i jack it up on the diff, i will try & get as much of the floor in pics as poss, think the sills are fucked though.
Will keep this updated as there seems to be a few interested in the progress.
Just wish i could do something with it.

Lad who came to look at it today said...
quote: A could safely say it needs new chassis rails from front to the rear seats. Needs big repairs or rear tank and spare wheel wells replacing. 2 sills,2 complete floor plans at a guess (bulkhead to rear seats) because they were literally on the floor of the garage and the sills were that badly gone.
All the panels are available from expressed panels and the higher boot floor gearbox and prop tunnel will be solid, strut tops and wings are good
That help with valuation?

No idea on price yet, thats the point of the thread mate, its not a for sale advert like some people do, its just to get an idea of what its worth.
Running?
21 years sitting in a damp garage, im not sure it would run? will try a battery on it like, but not holding much hope out for it.
Will be getting pics of floor and other stuff later in the week.

I never knew that Ford made those shape Escorts with an auto box.
You should seriously hire a garage or something and restore this car, it will be worth lots I imagine!

i dont have the money to put into it at the moment, we are finishing the flat off, then moving into a house, hope it will have a garage, but i seriously doubt i will have time / money to turn this into something it should be.
