I've been thinking about getting a scooter for a while now. When I had a full time job, running the LCR was fine but now I'm at Uni and only working weekends running the LCR is quite expensive, I'm spending about £40 a week in petrol!
When I was 16 I did the CBT and nearly bought the Aprilia SR50 but in the end decided to wait until I was 17 to buy a car. Recently been looking at the SR125 but to me it looks like a scooter the local 'chavs' race around on so have been looking at the Sport City instead.

If oyu get a scooter you can get a 125cc still and ive been told the Peugoet (sp?) Speedfighter is a good one to go for? I had a Yamaha Jog R was reliable the only thing it needed for the 2 years was anew spark plug.

Exactly, Speedfights are god awful handling things. I road my mates loads when I had my SR50 and at speed going around bends the front wheel wobbles as it's got a single arm suspension at the front.
God awful, looks nice though. Second best looking scooter after the SR.

Get a motorcross based one - then if it snows you can still get to work

My bros got an SR50, I love riding it, so much better than my old Neos
I'd ride a moped for work if I could, unfortunately 100 miles a day is a bit much for a moped.

Yeah Speedfight 100cc's are decent for negotiating traffic etc, but they are a tad slow for what I want.
Actually how fast is yours Tony? Is it fully de-restricted?

it'll hit an indicated 50mph... not sure how accurate it is though?
i am doing constant filtering so rarely get over 30.
fully de restricted ??? didn't think the 100's were restricted?

They stopped making SR125's in 2002 i belive. The fastest 125 scooters are the italjet formulas, twin cylinder but italjets corrode away like bread in a blender.
Speedfights are pants, the front end feels dangerous - only 2 stroke scooters id recommend are piaggio zip, gilera runner or aprilia sr.
I think if you buy a scooter, you will wish you bough an RS125 instead though.

My aircooled speedfight with a technigas pipe hit 65mph. The 100's are useless as the porting on them isnt agressive enough.

Intelligent input from Davey once again.
You can get low mileage SR125's for £600
Seems they can't shift them as the 16 Y/O can't ride them and anyone older would prefer something less racey.
LESS Racey? Thats like saying a standard zimmer frame is LESS racey than one with blue handles and a yellow stripe!
Oh Davey you make me laugh

Used to have a runner. Was a good scoot, just had crap electrics on it.
