Bonkers.
i agree...but at least they aint out stabbing each other, aaahhh the youth of today eh!

TBH if i see a really nice car in the street or a car show etc,the last thing i do is look at the condition of the paintwork.Even after writing this,i still wouldnt think twice about looking for swirl marks etc.
Yeah i like to take car of my car and give it a polish now and again(its red so needs to be kept on top of)but a quick coat of Megs polish and wax(£15-£20 worth) makes me more than happy.

Exactly, the main reason I do it is so that I can look at my car and go "what an awesome shine " or whatever. Most people hate my car so I don't care about whether they look at how clean it is or not, although I prefer it being clean just because I hate it being dirty haha.

Who ever said that's why people buy this stuff? There are occasions when this is true, but this is not one of those occasions.

i didn't realise people had such strong feelings about this
ste w : what you say about a 15 year old shopping car etc is rubbish, with the products i've just purchased a could cover/ remove all of the imperfections accumulated over those '15' years. when i eventually buy my dual action polisher i will be able to remove the very top layer of paint so all those '15' years will gone anyway.
Also 60% of my car has been resprayed so i don't want to scratch it all up using poor cleaning methods.
mattfiesta: if you used a 'beach towel' to dry your car it would almost definatly mare the paintwork due to how course the fibres are
corsa_sport21 : IMO the paintowrk is what makes a car, it is the biggest thing there is, if a car is in the sun covered in swirls and holograms it looks awful. i don't know how you can look past those, why spend £XXX on a car and have the paintwork looking shit.
also the dodo juice stuff probably works out alot cheaper in the long run due to the dilution ratios of the liquids, and the quality of the waxes which means they only need a very tihn coat and last for ages.

How coarse the fibres are? Do you have evidence that shows the difference in coarseness between a soft beach towel and an overpriced detailing towel?
They arent using a new found technology in these towels you buy, just a fancy name and hefty price tag.
Also, I said a soft beach towel, it doesn't damage the paint in any way at all and takes literally 2-3 mins to dry the car with 2 towels.

My car is covered in swirl marks, loads of grime that would need claybared off etc yet after i polished/waxed it with Megs, friends and workmates comment on how shiney it looks.
Im also with Ste W on the G3 comment.Awesome stuff when used with a high speed machine polisher. My mate is a panel beater/spray painter and he swears by the stuff.I once seen him roll a mk4 escort cabby out the booth and asked him if he just sprayed it,nope, just a quick blast with G3.
Id also put a very large sum of money on him not even knowing what Dodo juice and the likes are.

mattfiesta - i pay about a £1 for a normal microfibre so im not argueing that, the drying towel i've bought has much more fibres that are longer, compared to my beach towel. And I only have to use 1 towel not two.
corsa_sport21 : i havn't got a machine polisher yet, but i havn't argued against 'G3' i'd probably use a product that is more highly recommended on a detailing site, that probably wouldn't even cost much more. I've had my car machine polished at a bodyshop and i can see buffer trails all over it.
~You only have to look at Rich H's and blukoo's brothers posts to see this.

Don't talk about what you don't know.
The top quality drying towels do actually use different technology. Each strand of fibre in the towel is split hundreds of times, and that gives it the deep pile and luxourious, soft feel that a beach towel won't have.
The surface area of all the fibres are increased by a huge amount, and thats what allows the towels to absorb so much water.
The towels Polished Bliss sell are totally seamless and tag free too so they don't have any hard edges that could mark the paint.

I wasn't disputing how much water they pick up, and what you've posted sounds like you've just read the wrapper they came in. What Im getting at is a nice soft beach/bathroom towel is no worse than a detailing towel on your paint but at a fraction of the cost
lol at title edit

Only on Corsasport!!
BTW do you find you can get in your cracks with the beach towel??
Or would a microfibre be better for those hard to reach places?? (Gooch etc...)

I'd recommend using a microfibre towel over a beach towel to dry your eyes.

If you read my whole post you'll have realise i covered more than just water absorption. I said,

Furthermore, I didn't just read the wrapper. I was told that by Rich (my brother business partner @ PB) who used to be a scientist and he's officially a doctor (iirc), so i think he knows what he's talking about.
Its not all a gimmik. These things actually work better, and for a reason.

bingo! i really don't care what others think as with most things to do with my car. It's my money and i'll spend it on what i like. If all this stuff was a gimmick why would there be such a massive culture around it?
Also i've been modifiying cars for ages now and it's become the norm, this detailing lark is new and exciting for me as IMO paintwork has always let my car down.
