is the black airbag looking thing some sort of damper?

Also..its nicely done but I prefer seeing a mini with a tweeked A-series in to keep a bit of originality.

Its a rubber cone/doughnut thing and as far as i'm aware its used instead of a spring. Its been a while since i've worked on a Mini so can't be 100% but i'm sure when the rear arm moves upwards and downwards it moves a rod into and away from the cone using it as a way of cushioning bumps. They do have dampers as well as the cone.


The whole lot is removed and replaced with coiloers to have adjustable height.

Yeah pretty much. I think they just used them due to the weight and size of the car and the fact they used rear arms instead of axles.
