Common to hear things like "This shutline must be 0.75mm" and so on. I usually just laugh and make a joke about the war.

I like the idea of a Huf House, but a prefab is a prefab so out for me. Great design, but boring at the same time.

I'd design my own and pay british people to build it badly

You design your own and get German people to build it properly though. Know which I'd prefer.

Well yes, but still, seems wrong. Mainly as I can't see myself living in an uber-modern home. I can far sooner see myself turning a ramshackle barn in a nice home than super modern stuff.

I wouldn't want to move too far away, and I wouldn't want a HUGE place.
To be honest, my garage (which I would build) would probably be bigger than my house. A big house would be far too much effort to maintain (and I wouldn't pay someone else to do it) so this would do fine...

Forget what I said above
I've just found this house

Its a 16 bedroom house for sale at £975,000.
£220,000 more than the one above, but its got sooo much more

It seems like a bit of a bargain compared to the one above, so I think i'd buy that one and empoly a few people to look after the grounds for me.

Linky...

Its located in a similar place to the first one i posted (about 10 mins away).

^^ I bet the maintenance costs are incredible for a place like that Although if you could rent out all of the cottages and the farm, it could be ok. Although turning it into a hotel would probably be the best bet.

Sort of on topic, has anyone one seen teen cribs on MTV, it's on on Sundays. OMG, some of the houses are unreal. It's basically houses of people who have made them amazing for their kids, some of the stuff they have is unbeleivable.

Without spending much time thinking about it, Id probably just go to the local Cala site and buy the biggest house they have.

Like this - http://www.cala.co.uk/homes/development/Houses_at_Kinnaird_Gardens/Plot/160.aspx

Or this one just outside the town I stay in - http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-23471006.html?locationIdentifier=REGION%5E1756&pageNumber=1&backToListURL=%2Fproperty-for-sale%2Ffind.html%3FsearchType%3DSALE%26locationIdentifier%3DREGION%255E1756%26radius%3D0.0%26displayPropertyType%3D%26minBedrooms%3D%26maxBedrooms%3D%26minPrice%3D%26maxPrice%3D%26maxDaysSinceAdded%3D%26retirement%3D%26partBuyPartRent%3D%26_includeSSTC%3Don%26sortByPriceDescending%3D%26primaryDisplayPropertyType%3D%26secondaryDisplayPropertyType%3D%26oldDisplayPropertyType%3D%26oldPrimaryDisplayPropertyType%3D%26oldSecondaryDisplayPropertyType%3D%26newHome%3D%26auction%3Dfalse%26x%3D46%26y%3D16

You can get a nice new 5 bed house here for £400,000 or less

Scotland is ace. Especially out in the country.
Spend less on houses, spend more on cars

If you convinced your folks to move up here, they could free up about £500k (if they have paid off their mortgage) and buy you an F40 or maybe even two...

Just something to think about
