...question is, would they be so gracious as to let me keep my number? I've had it for years and it's a good one

Can anyone help me please? I need to see the actual official writing that says prices are going up. The woman on the phone was quite positive charges were going down. I don't get it.

Heres a link to an emulator which shows the webpage in the texts people are getting.
It outlines the price increases.
Clicky
I just phoned up there.. Cancelled within 3 minutes and spoke to a nice guy called Peter.
Sent me out my PAC code in the post which allows me to take my number elsewhere.

Can someone post some decent deals at the moment?
If I can find a decent deal for £25 per month I will have it.

Cheers Chrissy. I think the main problem is I don't actually know how much I'm paying now (stupid I know, but I never exceed my minutes anyway) so when she said "no they're going down to 5p" or somethin like that I came to a sudden halt "eeerrrrrr"
What EXACTLY did you say Chrissy?

Well see I got my text through..
The prices are going from 5p minimum call charge to 14.7p minimum.
Have a look at the bitterwallet link on the first page. In section 4.3 of oranges t+c's it states "You may also terminate your Contract if we vary its terms, resulting in an excessive increase in the Charges"
Nearly a 300% increase seems excessive to me and therefore, you're within your rights to cancel.

That thread has all you need to know tbh..

The simple fact is she said mine were going down, which would mean I have zero grounds for complaint.
I need a list of what I'm paying now and what I will be paying come September.

I've never heard that they're going down..
I'd maybe just phone again.
Some people have had to phone 3 times before they eventually got through to someone decent.

In one word - yes. As far as I can see O2's minimum call charge is 19.7 pence per minute for calls outside allowancwe which is more than Orange.

haha SUCCESS!
Just managed it. I think I was going wrong by just speaking to some customer services nerd. I asked to be put through to disconnections straight away and I spoke to a lovely chap called Ryan. He offered me more minutes to keep me, but I declined and cancelled. Code is in the post for the number transfer too which he said will arrive in 2 days
Cheers for help all

Na
I just said to Ryan "Hi, I've been told my charges are going up and I'd just like to clarify a few things"
then he replied "oh, you've had the text?"
I just said "yeah" and that was that lol

Haha fantastic..
I tried that on my second phonecall a couple days ago but that guy had access to a database of numbers and a date as to when they received the text.
Told me I hadn't got it yet and I couldn't cancel
So yesterday when it came through I rejoiced
