Technically, but in practice this is not true, they are too many variables that can affect the reading so they always give you some allowance, normally 10% +

My Theory is, the slower the car the more chance of getting done.. I've only ever been done in slow cars and the reasoning is: If you are in a slow car it takes ages to build up speed so when the speed limit changes for a brief stretch you really dont want to slow down only to have to wait a life time to speed up again!

Should be reet I would say, even if you have been caught it won't make a massive difference to insurance, maybe put £60 on to your premium annually (thats all I got for my 3 points) so its not really a big deal, won't even notice it tbh

Thought they had 14 days to provide you with NIP and then up to 6 months to process it?

Common Misconception i believe. If you dont recieve it within 2 weeks its unlikely you will, especially if it was a mobile unit.

Most mobile units are set to within 5% of the speed (so 42 on a 40) and then the discretion of the policeman etc. Obviously they also need an image or to have seen your number plate if using a laser rather than a camera.

Mobiles also take into consideration the surroundings, what other cars are doing and the safety of the speed you were doing in reletivity to the road conditions. I went under a mobile camera at 3am at lolmph but didnt recieve anything.

Fingers crossed deano it comes back clean

Cheers Neo, where it was I came off a very short slip road which is very close to a fast moving roundabout. I needed to get in the outside lane to turn right at the next roundabout so had no choice to put my foot down.

meh, hopefully nothing will come of it.

I can just imagine the sheer panic you went through when you realised what you'd done. Crazy thoughts like having to get rid of the 13s must have come to mind!

Seriously though, my insurance did go up slightly when I got 3 points though what's crazy is that I'm still paying less insurance than you on a faster car!

When I drove back it had police all over it, so was actually a police camera. It was a speed reduction unit or something apparently making roads safer.

as said dont worry about it - whats done is done

I got done for 35 in a 30 off a scamera van and got offered the speed awareness course

60 quid and a Saturday afternoon surrounded by retards!

since getting caught i have kept to posted speed limits 99% of the time - NSL still means no sodding limit though
