Well to me it seems a little unfair.
We were not informed that we could change our user names. We got them when we started, we shouldnt be allowed to go round using other ones.
It only happened because Adam is a mod, if any of us had asked you would have probably said no because it would have involved too much hassle for you mods/admin to do it on our behalf.
Oh and Romford why do you insist on acting as if you are so much better than us normal users. You are in a team, a team of mods, we are in a team, a team of users. It seems to me that you dont like our team, which surely is a bad attitude when your sole job on this forum is to look out for the wellbeing of the users.

Well, I've changed lots of peoples names before (Munchie, Phil Hall - two examples very recently!)
1) Yes, it is a hassle, because I have to do it all manually in each table.
2) Only me and Ian *CAN* do it, so don't think it's the mods.
3) It's not really an option we encourage, and it's not a feature. If you're not happy with your username, why register it.
4) No usernames have been poached. The owner of the name was contacted.
5) I don't see Romford Astra acting like he's better than everyone else? What gives you that idea... personally I think he's one of the top mods we have.
6) Why is this such an issue?
7) What's unfair?

The fact that Adam got to change his name, people like Dav. weren't allowed.
Why didnt you say "If you're not happy with your username, why register it" to Adam??
I see Romfords attitude as always talking down as if he is all high and mighty, also from what has been said in this thread, you see no fault with him.
Its an issue because it has been made an issue, people aren't happy so they bring it up.

2) The same reason i didn't say that to bigW or mmhal51 today...
3) He's not all high and mighty, but he is just pissed off with a couple of people who seem intent on making our job hard.
4) I just don't see the problem. If you want a name change, talk to Ian or myself via email. Then we can sort it out and make decisions based on used usernames etc...
And in addition to this, I've never ever said no to someone that approached us in a polite tone, and didn't give us a hard time. If I am asked to do something nicely, then I'm always more than happy to sort things out for people. Try me.

Oh, and a quick example of how we don't poach names...
Romford Astra was not made 'Pete' to fall inline with other senior staff as the name is already in use by Pete from PVD...
