A 1.4 Sport is NOWHERE near as quick as as a 1.6. Even with a Mantzel on it's just about even.

But less torque as well. With my Mantzel, 4-2-1 and cat back system I'd probably just edge past, if I'm lucky.

a 1.4 sport is just as quick as a 1.6 sport when you start to fiddle. as warren said. cheaper tax, insurance and there is nothing in it between the both of them to start with.

my corsa was quicker than a zs, vtr ect and on par with a vts saxo. and my mate 1.4 corsa with the same mods as me would always be in my mirror, quite annoying really.

When you fiddle with it to make them as quick, the insurance will go up too And omfg there is something between them to start with, are you all joking

no im not joking,
my 1.6 was.
c16xe head
x16xe bottom end
vxperformance inlet
raceland 4-2-1 manifold
sportex decat
ashley performace exhaust
k8n panel
1.4 sport
c16xe head
x14xe bottom end
vxperformance inlet
spotex manifold
ashley cat back system
k&n pannel filter
so nearly the same mods and i would only creep away. 1.4 seem to respond better to mods

yeh the 1.4's respond better to mods
i had 113bhp from mantzel, 4branch and system
was quicker than a few 1.6's
the difference isnt worth it, if you looking for a cheaper car to run

Aye they respond better to mods, but saying there isn't anything in at as standard is madness. The 1.6 has almost 20% more power than the 1.4

true a x14 is not to far behind a x16..
there are more of them about than a x16 tbh.
and with just a decent 4-2-1 manifold, inlet manifold, good back box, and panel filter (possable cams if budget allows) they are pritty quick cars...
i have a x14 and it isnt a slouch, and it makes a difference with just a back box on these engines.. (you can feel it being held back slightly with the standard system)

Then buy an SXi. Not worth the insurance as they aren't THAT far behind a Sport.

But you save on insurance and petrol
I'm really not being silly. If the lad asked for something other than a 1.6 Sport or ZS, then fire the suggestions away. But they were not needed in this thread And I stand by my opinion that they are easily dispatched by a 1.6 Sport. Pulls away to 60, then is off. Adding a Mantzel will make them quicker aye, but then they are utterly gutless through the midrange until it hits the power band
