I am just thinking that I want to build myself a lightening fast box one day that would still be lightening fast in say a few years time.
Just wondered what was out there as I seem to be a bit out of touch with PC specs these days, and also wanted to know how much I need to save up!
@TheNobleOne - I've seen some high end spec PCs on eBay for about that amount!

Yeah, I don't know much about the latest spec neither, I built my custom system 5 years ago which cost me £1,000. Still quickish by todays standards although it lacks a twin core CPU.

What spec have you got from 5 years ago that's still quickish today?

Still plays new games in high quality so can't be too bad. Like I said, its only downside really is the single core CPU, it still has a good load of memory and a pretty good graphics card.
EDIT : Come to think of it, it's 3 years old, not 5.

I would spec up a hp blackbird to the best it could go, just because i could!
check the link, skip the ghey advert. would get it to run 3 screens to play flight simulators better / make me look cool.

I think it would be more fun to build it up myself rather than buy a ready made one.

Some of the PCs in that link you posted up look quite cool, I think you would have to be spend every day cleaning the dust from them etc. though!

Some of them are more likes pieces of art than PC's! Would need to keep them in a perspex box to stop the dust
